An Overdue Book Review--Life of the Komodo Dragon
A few weeks ago my children and I were studying reptiles. Well, a while back I had received an E-book from
Yesterday's Hopes called
Life of the Komodo Dragon by
Melissa O. Markham. The title pretty much explains what the book is about, but I love the way she walks you though it.
The book begins from the time a female komodo dragon emerges from her egg. And as soon as she enters into the world, she begins to instictively protect herself from prey. Not only is it fasinating how they protect themselves from birth, but how they hunt, and eat. Everything has a purpose, even why their scales change color as they get older. I must admit, this book had me and my children on our toes. There was some graphic information I could have lived without knowing, but that would kind of defeat the purpose of knowing how a komodo dragon lives, right? To be honest, it didn't bother my children a bit, it kept their interest from start to finish. I believe a lot of that had to do with the incredible real-life photos she provides and the wonderful links. I actually bookmarked all of them.
This is a wonderful non-fiction book and is a great resource, I hope there will be more ebooks written by her soon.
God Bless,
Amber
PS~ Do forget to mozy on over to the

LOL! Amber, if I can get the other two done, I'll see about researching the King Cobra:)
Most kids do enjoy the more graphic moments, they aren't squeamish like their parents.

My children love books about animals, especially ones with pictures. After living in Cuba for two years and dealing with the Cuban Rock Iguana they have developed an interest in all things reptile, much to my dismay! I would prefer them cute and furry!

That book sounds really cool! I just ran into your homestead blog, I like your layout of that page too. I haven't done too much with mine there, in fact I am such a terrible homesteading candidate I'm ashamed to post lol. I do make my own laundry soap though woohoo!
Having contest on my blog, come and enter!
