My New Homeschool Lesson Planner
It's almost time to start another year of homeschool. Of course I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. But right now my excitement outweighs my nervousness. Let me explain. One of my main downfalls is organization, and an EASY way to keep a journal of my children's school work. Well thanks to Ronda (aka RugbyHS) journaling shouldn't be a problem. She has programmed a WONDERFUL Homeschool Lesson Planning System!!! (She is letting me and a dozen other families BETA test it.)  Best of all, it is simple and easy to use. There are so many things I LOVE, I mean LOVE about this, here are just some of them:
  1. Set-up is a piece of cake! You fill out what family activities you do together and each child's individual subjects, not a lot of unnecessary information.
  2. You can add Family Activities and you only have to type it in once instead of, in my case, four times.
  3. There are weekly and daily reports, but once again, you are only typing this once, not a weekly report and a daily report.
  4. The other convenient feature on the weekly reports is that you can skip from one week to the next. Example: It is March 15, 2007 and you are wondering what project you did for Christmas 2006. Well, all you have to do is click on weekly reports, go to the pull down bar and scroll until you get to (week 26) Dec 23 - Dec 26 and voila, you are there and so are all your assignments and family projects.
  5. Another thing that is convenient in my case and I know it will be for many of you since you homeschool more than one child is, the fact that each child can be color-coded to his or her favorite color or your color of choice.
  6. There is a book log which another convenient attribute.
  7. Oh, and no matter where I have to go on the Lesson Plan System, all I just have to click on one of the bottom tabs and I'm there.
  8. Moving assignment to the future is a dream!
  9. This program is simple and easy to use, but yet deliverers everything I need!
Ok, this is NOT an infomercial and I'm NOT getting paid to say this. I'm just a homeschool mom who needed some kind of way to keep a record of my schooling with my children and Ronda provided me with that. This Lesson Planner should be ready for market by next summer.

THANK YOU RONDA!!!!!

So if you want to check out her Lesson Planning System, Click over!

And for those of you who have to keep attendance, check out RugbyHS's Tracking Attendance System HERE!

God Bless and Happy Homeschooling,
Amber

Trust in the Lord
I changed my blog Title to "Trust in the Lord" for a few reasons, the main one would be that, that is exactly what I need to do, is TRUST IN THE LORD! He has a path mapped out for me, I do not know what lies ahead, but I know whatever it is He will help me through it as long as I TRUST IN HIM. I have to do what He plans for me, NOT what I plan.

A new school year, a new blog title and most importantly a new journey. I am waiting to see what He has in store for me and my family and I pray that I can do whatever He asks of me. May the Lord Bless you all in your  new journeys, whatever they may be.

God Bless,
Amber

History Contest WINNER!

HI! My name is Alatariel/Jocelyn, I’m that ridiculously bright student/blogger Mrs. Nancy Carter  referred to on the HSB Company Blog

A few months ago Amber asked me to make up history quiz and I agreed. I was busy at home and I got behind on it, so I just decided to put some questions together off the top of my head. It was Mom's idea to put the bloggers in so I picked some out to fit the questions...

Anyway, to announce the WINNER and the person who knew the most about history... DRUM ROLL, PLEASE

Chickadee is the highest scoring contestant. She had the highest score of 180! Chickadee will be receiving a Usborne book : Timelines of History Congratulations!!!!!

Amber and I have also decided that Kleo30 needs a history book as well! She only scored 70 total, so she wil be recieving a mini version of the Usborne book, that SoulRest Educational Supplies has doanted.

I thought it would be fun to post everyone's scores as well.

CarpeBanana 170   Sandie 170  GAhomeschoolmom 160 Julie 160

SuperAngel 160  Eyecorn  160 KarenW 160 BlessedBeingMom 160

To clarify a couple of the questions that were answered wrong the most were:

1. How did George Washington die?

Common answer: Old Age

but this was not the correct answer. In fact Washington died of blood loss. Back then they thought if they took a couple pints of blood it would relieve pressure or fever.

2. Who did Queen Elizabeth I marry?

Common answer: None of the above

Queen Elizabeth did state when she was crowned Queen that she was married to England. She did not, however, realize that her kingdom would be given away since she had no heirs.

3. Who was the father of Cleopatra's first son?

Common answer: Mark Antony

A year or 2 before Julius Caesar died, he and Cleopatra had a son together, his name was Caesarion. Augustus Caesar killed him after Julius died so he could have the throne.

4. Who gave the Continental Congress our country's new flag?

Common answer: John Adams

No, this is not the right answer of course. Washington was given the honor of handing over the Nation's new flag to congress.

5. Who's arms, legs and head were displayed at the four corners of Scotland to warn the Scotsmen they would never be free from England?

Common answer:William the Conqueror

One of my favourite movies is Braveheart, it is about William Wallace. If you got this answer wrong then this movie will enlighten you. I really enjoy it, though some things are inaccurate.

6. Which tribe was Sacagawea from?

Common answer: Nez Perce

No, in fact she was Shoshoni married to a French Canadian named Toussaint Charbonneau.

7.Who wrote the Declaration of Independence?

Common answer: John Hancock

Thomas Jefferson was appointed this task and really did not want it. He was wanting to go home, to Virginia, to his newly wedded wife, Martha. If you would like to learn more about this I would recommend the movie 1776.

Thanks for participating!!!

Just to Let You Know...
I'm still here. and since I've been gone SO long, I thought I'd have a contest for y'all! But before I that, I'll clue you in on what I've been doing.

Mainly, I've been cleaning the house and getting things orginized. Now that my mom left yesterday, I pray that I'm able to continue to do the few things we couldn't get to. I've also been wrapping up the school year, I have to finish my DC portfolios for their evaluation...oh and BTW, I finally saw Narnia. And lastly, my most exciting news is, I went to the  Butcher shop (aka Wal-Mart)!!! Not for a juicy, roast beef or delicious leg of lamb....NOOOO! I went to get my hair cut. Let me just say, that'll be the LAST time I go to Wal-Mart to get my hair done!!!! Ladies, PAY THE EXTRA MONEY!!!!!!

Alright, enough about me, let's get on with the contest. Now, this is not a, How Well Do You Know Your Fellow HSB Quiz," although it was put together by a VERY smart Homeschoolblogger.....No, no, not me. *blush* I asked one of Jacque Dixon's lovely daughters, Myrtle Dimple Hardbottle aka Jocelyndixon, to do a history quiz. So with that, let the quiz begin!!!! (This is a two-part quiz)

Oh! I almost forgot, the person with the highest score wins an Usborne Timeline of World History! If there is a tie, Jocelyndixon will make the deciding vote, but I'm sure SuperAngel will insist upon getting all the hate mail, that's what loving sisters are for....right?!

RULES:
  1. You must leave a comment BEFORE taking the quiz.
  2.  NO CHEATING! No Googling, looking in a book or asking anyone the answer. You are on your own!
  3. Take History Quiz Part 1!
  4. Take History Quiz Part 2!
  5. Have Fun!
God Bless,
Amber

PS~ I just found out that Myrtle (the History Quiz maker) isn't feeling well today, so please pray for her.
