Welcome to the Funny Farm

Feb. 15, 2007 - I'm still in shock

And no, it has nothing to do with me turning the big 3-0.

Blake and Chandler were outside roller-blading in the car-port this afternoon when Blake sees a white truck turn around on a road right next to our house. The truck drove on and Blake said he didn't think much about it until our dog ran over to where the truck had been. Blake then sees a big box on the side of the road. He goes over to get the box (he's thinking. "Cool, a big box to build something out of") when he hears scratching inside. He thinks it's snakes but decides to look inside anyway. Here's what he sees:

Yep. Someone left 7 adorable puppies, in a box, on the side of road, in 35 degree weather!!!!  I just cannot believe someone could actually do this! How heartless! I am such an animal lover that I just cannot comprehend how someone could drop an animal off on the side of the road and not think twice about it! Ugghh!

Oh course, we took them in, got them warm, fed them, and played with them for most of the afternoon. The kids were just thrilled because there was one for each of them, and one for me, too!

But then I had to be the bearer of bad news and tell them that we couldn't keep them, that we had to take them to the Human Society. They were all sad but understood that's what we had to do. They are just the cutest puppies and I'm sure they will find good homes. Much better than what they would have gotten on the side of the road!

Thanks be to God that they were dropped off at YOUR home where they could be properly loved on until finding a forever home!

How wonderful that you happened upon them. Too bad you couldn't keep them. Very cute little things. I would have been trying to talk my DH into keeping them. I am a sucker.

Nov. 9, 2007 - Puppies

It is unreal what some "humans" will do. However, the Lord put them there for your son to find rather than die the horrible death they could have had.

I'm glad it was live puppies your son found. When my son was around 10 years old a large box appeared accross the street from us. Both of us almost opened it. It was opened by someone passing by thinking it had fallen of a truck or something. It was an or something alright, as I found out when the police knocked on our door to ask if we had seen anything.

That was 17 years ago.
