Back to School - 2009  Little Miss PlaythingsThis year at the Little Miss Playthings contest I entered my Willow in the over 18 category and the boys each entered one of their dolls in the under 18 category. MotoFool entered his Danica and AGR's Son entered his Maggie. Each round had a different theme and we had to take a photograph of our doll that had something to do with that round's theme. Round 1 - hero; Round 2 - clothing; Round 3 - line; Round 4 - about me; Round 5 - anything goes. We had a blast trying our hand at making our entries fit the categories for each round. The winners for each round and the over-all winners were announced today. MotoFool's Danica was the only one who placed of all our family's entries. So we congratulate Danica on her 2nd place in the 4th Round category of "About Me". Here's her winning photo:  After all, "It's really all about me!" says Danica. Josefina is complete!Here's Josefina modeling her Christmas Eve playset. This represents the final item that we need to complete Josefina's collection. Josefina's pianoThe most prized piece for any Josefina collector is her English Square Piano. It was only available from Pleasant Company (American Girl) from 1998-2001. We finally have one in our collection! Josefina actually has too much furniture now for it all to fit in her room, so she's put her piano in the living room area of the Dolls' House. Sweet!  Pets!I took a picture of all my AG Pets lined up on the stairs to the garret. I should have turned the light on upstairs first as the horses are a bit dark. But oh well, here they are: Message for Kayla: Since I don't know how to get a message to you because you're never signed in when you comment, here's the answer to your question about ear piercing. It cost $14 to have your doll's ears pierced at the AG Store, but that includes 7 pairs of earrings. You can send in your doll to the AG Hospital for an ear piercing service as well. Same price except you have to pay postage to send her and return her. But you can have her ears pierced at the Hospital while she's there for other services if you are sending her in anyway. Ready for Christmas!Okay, so I guess I haven't updated in a while and someone (I won't mention any names) has repeatedly asked me to. So here's a couple of pictures of my girls getting ready for Christmas.  Some of the mini-girls decorating their tree. The girls who actually have a Christmas outfit standing on the mantel being all festive. Merry Christmas to everyone! Happy Thanksgiving! Happy Thanksgiving! Dolls' Tree HouseThinking that our girls needed some more room, and that a tree house would be fun, last weekend we created our doll sized tree-house.  The rooms are each 24" long by 20" tall by 18" deep. They stand on a real tree stump and have real limbs branching out each side. There is a swing on the left side for the girls to swing and a play yard for the pets on each section near the top.  This sits in the same room as the Dolls' House so it's kind of hard to get far enough away to take a good picture. Anyway, the girls seem to love it. School Days!
To the Beach!We took some girls on vacation with us to the beach in Delaware
 Mini-Girls' HouseA couple of months ago we bought an unassembled, fully wooden doll house kit at a yard sale. There must have been 1000 pieces! After several days, 40 some hours, lots of glue, paint and wallpaper, we completed the house. You can see the front of the house in Kealoha's last entry here. And here's a picture of the PC glass-eyed mini-girls in their new house:  As you can see we don't have much furniture yet. And really the girls are a bit off scale to the 1"=1' doll house. We made them their own bunk beds because they wouldn't be able to lie down in a scale, store-bought bed. We bought the fire place, sofa and ottoman at an antique store in Indiana. The house is still a work in progress, but we (and they) love it. More things for Kaya!Our sweet Kaya has gotten some new things for her collection. We got her the Tepee; her horse, Steps-High; and her foal, Sparks Flying. Now all we are missing for Kaya's collection is her Jingle Dress (which is retired and very hard to come by!) UPDATE 8/2008: We have the Jingle Dress! Now we have her complete collection!  Yay for Kaya! We love Peeps! Julie hanging with her Peeps! The Dolls' HouseMy sweet husband has constructed our girls a home to live in. Each 'room' is 4 feet long, by 2 feet deep and 2 feet high. That's a total of 8' x 6' of Doll House! We still need to get some interior decorating done and the attic finished, but here's a photo of how it looks in our 10'x11' den.

 Peace on Earth; Goodwill towards men! Julie and IvyAs many have heard, American Girl is releasing a new Historical Character, Julie Albright. She is representing the not so far past of 1974. Unlike with other new release dolls, her best friend doll, Ivy, is supposed to be released along with her. The scheduled release date is September 10. I have seen pictures of these dolls from friends who went to the Premier at American Girl Place LA. She has long, straight, blond hair and dark brown eyes. She does not have pierced ears, although Ivy does. I don't want to publish any pictures of her because I don't want to infringe on AG's right to her pictures until her release date. Any picture you might find on another AG fan site is probably a photo-shop image of what someone thinks she should look like. The New York times released a picture of her on Friday, but I'm still going to wait until she's on AG's web site. I have seen the Julie mini-doll for sale on eBay already. That is also against AG rules. The book sellers (who also sell the mini dolls) have received their orders of Julie's new books with intended release of the books earlier than the dolls, but still in September. Unfortunately some booksellers have not abided by AG's policy to not sell the books/mini-dolls until the correct date. I hope to post pictures of Julie here soon....maybe when I get her! Wouldn't that be great! We need more dolls at our house! Happy Fourth of July!
