I'll Still Be Able to Pray, Then

Posted in Home Life

Today I was upstairs on my hands & knees picking up under our youngest son's loft bed. A couple of the kids and I were talking about their dad and aging (how we were going to keep pushing back our definition of "old").

My husband is really active with his 5 boys, but what a laugh I got today. I guess it shows that the most active thing my boys see me do is ride a horse or have a baby. (!)

I was still picking up when my great one-liner guy comes up and says,

"I bet when Daddy's 90 he'll still be able to jump off the top of the haybales and play capture-the-flag with us. And Mommie you'll still be able to, uh... kneel !"

That's classic. Seems I remember you played ATOMIC capture the flag with us the other day! Now that's a real workout. It was great fun having you there and the gang loved your joining. When your 90 and kneeling it will be to pray. Somone else will likely be picking up the toys -- well, maybe not. P.S. Nice picture, captures you true spirit.

May. 19, 2006 - kneeling while laughing

Isn't God great at reminding us that we need to laugh. I think that I could have fallen out of my chair after reading this laughing so hard, and then to try and figure out which boy might have actually said that to you. ( My guess was the one who took the tumble out of the tree before I came over to visit.) What a blessing to have that son of yours. I am always impressed with your boys. This time is no exception. May God continue to bless you and me through your children.

I'm afraid that's what my kiddos say about me since they also have such an active father. They actually wound each other when sword fighting and think nothing of it. No one pays attention to my frantic, " Be careful now. Watch the lamp." And I have mostly girls!

You have a beautiful family...

I love Vermont because of her hills and valleys, the scenery and invigorating climate. But most of all because of her indomitable people. They are a race of pioneers who almost beggared themselves for others.

If the spirit of liberty should vanish from the rest of the Union, and our institutions should languish, it all could be restored by the generous store held by the people in this brave little State of Vermont.
