Middle Earth is Never Far Away

OK,  I took the Lord of the Rings "How Well Do You Know" quiz and got:

WISEST OF ALL BEINGS-To you, the world of Tolkien is the real world, and you have familiarized yourself with it. Are you sure you're not a foreigner from Middle-earth?

I must have guessed a lot correctly! I probably got this score because I knew Galadriel was a renegade. Sometimes I become like a while blood cell and engulf a topic. Last year when my family watched the first LOTR movie, I had never even cracked one of those books open, not being a "science fiction" reader, except I had read The Hobbit the year before. After the movie, I read all 3 volumes in 10 days, plus the Appendix with the languages (which I love).

We recently gave Gollum The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales as gifts, but you know, I had them for a few nights before he started reading them...

I finally had to put them down, but hope to finish them sometime.

Oh, yes, and I took the "Which LOTR Character Are You?" quiz too, and I got:

ELROND

You are most like Elrond. Although you are very serious, you're not above having a good time. It's just that your definition of a good time is pretty different from others. People may think you're hard nosed, but all your friends know better.

It figures. You can say that again. My family & friends do definitely know me better. No wonder my husband is having such a jovial time being married to me.

Well, away from middle earth now, and back to the church age, with enough of its own battles, epics, heroic tales and deeds.

To celebrate, I am adding Bilbo to my friends list. I had long considered it, knowing his interest and study in linguistics. Hi, Bilbo!

I love Vermont because of her hills and valleys, the scenery and invigorating climate. But most of all because of her indomitable people. They are a race of pioneers who almost beggared themselves for others.

If the spirit of liberty should vanish from the rest of the Union, and our institutions should languish, it all could be restored by the generous store held by the people in this brave little State of Vermont.
