Differentiation and the Names of my Children

Posted in Home Life

For the sake of clarification and differentiation, I have decided to give my children names to use on my blog occasionally. With the help of Noah Webster’s 1828 and Roget's Thesaurus I came up with the following names. Anybody who knows the children will agree with me (I think) as to the appropriateness of their nicknames:

Our oldest: Genius  (I know it has an extra “o” in it, but it’s to

make all the names end in “ous”, you’ll

                               see…)

Our 2nd oldest:  Magnanimous (If you look up the word you will

                                            see it is totally him.)

Our 3rd oldest:  Vigorous (It speaks for itself. Don’t stand too

close to him or you might get knocked

                                    down.)

Our 4th oldest: Gregarious (Mr. wonderful personality)

Our youngest son:  Magestous (His majesty. Don’t get me

started. I am just a serf.)

Our daughter, youngest:  Precious (Obvious.)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

While making this list I realized I could name the sub-categories of relationships:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Genius & Magnanimous = Abbott & Costello

Vigorous & Gregarious =  Merry & Pippin

Magestous & Precious are the “Precocious Pair.” *

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

 * Their conversations make me giggle.  Here’s one:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Magestous to Precious, starting things) “You’re not  4  yet.”  (Sure to get a rise.)

(Precious)  “I am too, and I have 3 legs !”

(Magestous, thinking about this)  “Are you an evolutionist?”

                                                (I told you they’re precocious!)

(Precious) “No, I’m not an ebolushunist, and I AM 4!  Now leave me alone!”

(Magestous, who has learned from Precious when to quit an argument with a woman, even when she is wrong, responds with a knowing silence.)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think being able to directly (indirectly) name my children on here will help a lot. For a reminder of who’s who, I have them listed on my sidebar.

Have a nice day

Dawn's Favorite Post

I love Vermont because of her hills and valleys, the scenery and invigorating climate. But most of all because of her indomitable people. They are a race of pioneers who almost beggared themselves for others.

If the spirit of liberty should vanish from the rest of the Union, and our institutions should languish, it all could be restored by the generous store held by the people in this brave little State of Vermont.
