On Painting and Principle

Posted in Our Homeschool

Thank you for the support! I see many of us have painting to catch up on. Of course-- it shows where our priorities are. We are homeschooling!

I want to share something that has to do with this blog: yesterday I read over my Noah Plan Principle Approach material from the Foundation for American Christian Education (www.face.net).

In the past, much of it was confusing to me. Yesterday, it was like a thunderclap to my brain. I wrote to Dana (Principled Discovery) that maybe I had to undergo pain and suffering to be able to get the gist of it! Perhaps my mind has been through a crucible.

I'm just a cowgirl, wrangling with and training horses and kids (and occasionally sending my husband out for a spin around the corral, too.) Scholarship in jeans, that works for me!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I think I'm going to do a facelift there really soon, because it's waaaaaaay too busy, and I'm sick of ents. LOL Being that we are very behind on painting as well, ::insert wide grin here::, our house is not adorned with ents, so having the name Entmoot Academy isn't such a hardship.

Anyway, glad you are back to blogging, and I hope to hear a lot more from you! Now that you understand your Noah Plan Principle Approach material, maybe you could tell me a bit about it!

I have spent a lot of time on the Foundation for American Christian Education... I may go that way to educate our two younger kids.

Feb. 12, 2008 - The Principle Approach

Posted by ichuzchrist
I've actually never heard of the principle approach. I have to say that I didn't research a lot of different homeschool methods, or curriculum choices, when we started homeschooling. I'm very all over the place with the curriculum I have chosen, and the methods we use. I pull bits from here and there, and everywhere. (I sound like Dr. Seuss!). I've been homeschooling for five years now, and I didn't want to start all over again with the oldest with new methods or ideology when what we were doing worked (for the most part). I'm thinking that with the youngest, however, that I might want to change tactics, and do things differently since we are starting fresh with her. She's never been to public school, and hopefully never will have to. She's at a kindergarten level, and I am pretty relaxed with her. So right now I'm looking to see what method I'd like to use with her.

My son is LD, so his level is not as high as his younger sister's (14). Although I can teach social studies and sometimes science to both at the same time, most everything else has to be separate. And of course a kindergarten student and two high school students can't be taught together very easily, even with unit studies. LOL I'm still teaching Aneira (6) to read!

Sorry, didn't mean to write an essay . . . .

Dawn's Favorite Post

I love Vermont because of her hills and valleys, the scenery and invigorating climate. But most of all because of her indomitable people. They are a race of pioneers who almost beggared themselves for others.

If the spirit of liberty should vanish from the rest of the Union, and our institutions should languish, it all could be restored by the generous store held by the people in this brave little State of Vermont.
