Greetings, Earthlings,

I am typing this for copywork. I recently bought my guitar. I love it. :) Libby is sitting on the backyard steps looking all depressed and whatnot. I just have to do my Veritas Academy(all rights reserved (circle)C 2009) homework. Veritas is cool. I am looking forward to typing again.

Take Me To Your Leader,

On Eagles Wings

On Eagles Wings was my grandmother Erasmus' favorite song.  Jack, Claire, and I have listened and learned from it this past week. It's neat to feel a connection with Gram once again... and realize our connection to our Father in Heaven.  I take its promises with me throughout the day... it's based on Isaiah 40...

"Do you not know?
       Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.

He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.

Even youths grow tired and weary,
       and young men stumble and fall;

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run,
and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint."

You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord,
Who abide in His shadow for life,
Say to the Lord, "My Refuge,
My Rock in Whom I trust."

            Refrain
And He will raise you up on eagle's wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His Hand.

The snare of the fowler will never capture you,
          And famine will bring you no fear;
          Under His Wings your refuge,
          His faithfulness your shield.

            Refrain

You need not fear the terror of the night,
Nor the arrow that flies by day,
          Though thousands fall about you,
Near you it shall not come.

            Refrain

For to His angels He's given a command,
To guard you in all of your ways,
Upon their hands they will bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.

            Refrain

Recipe hunt

I'm always up for a google search for recipes.

Today I found a recipe for fudgesicles, orange creamsicles, and popsicles.  And Claire has found a DELICIOUS recipe for smoothies that we all love.

Claire will be making some muffins this week.  She's thinking banana will be their main flavor... but I'm trying to convince her to make some cheddar muffins to go with our chef's salad dinner.  I just love when others cook for me, especially my kids!!!

FRESH cherries!!!  We may eat them all before we make anything with them.  We sure do love all the fresh fruit at the store during summer.

Food, marvelous food.

September morn

This has NOTHING  at all to do with the Neil Diamond song... as a matter of fact, I cringe when I hear 'September morn' on the musac at work..  ugh.

No this is today... a cool foggy morning.  Both Jack then Claire had soccer games  today.  And pictures.  By noon the sun burned the fog away to reveal butterflies and blue skies.  I'm ever more anxious to camp in a few weeks.

Shane and Robin called.  We chatted during Claire's game.  They are enjoying the novels we purchased last time they visited.

School had it's bumps this week, but all in all, I think we have a good schedule in place.  The greatest hurdle has been not only getting up early, but also starting on time.  The bible study resource from LRCC has been FABULOUS.  I feel I have a better handle on where the kids are in Spanish.  I'm adding new lessons each week and only Plutarch's Lives seems to be neglected.   (It's a big challenge for me!)

Working tonight, so I'll keep time on my feet to a minimum and save my strength.  This cold has me weaker than I should be.  I'll stop by the Joneses and take care of business before work.

Eric is cooking lunch while I spent a few minutes practicing my guitar and catch up on this here blog.  (YES- IT'S TRUE - Eric is cooking).  What a blessing.

September Visit

So glad that Robin and Shane are here.  We've had great fun together so far.

We watched Jack and Claire's soccer games.  Played musical instruments.  Went to the book store for their customary classic novel for each visit.  Made homemade pizza.  Made buckeyes!

The Ohio State football game is about to begin.  -Amy

2nd day of homeschool

Another gorgeous September day.  Our second day of school.

I had a rough start, waking with a headache, which after a few hours turned migraine.  The kids were great, continuing on in their studies as best they could without me... I was languishing in back in bed.  Thank my LORD, I recovered in a few hours and we continued together.

We're hitting a few bumps in math, but I think after a few days or weeks, we'll settle in and hit stride.  Otherwise, both Jack and Claire are enjoying their new books for the most part, and glad to get back to our history and continue in various language arts areas.

I really believe Claire needs eyeglasses.  We need to get her in right away for an appointment!  note to self...

Had a nice, lengthy conversation with my brother Tom this afternoon.  Thankfully, he'll get over to our camping spot for a visit later this month.  We'll get to catch up more then.

Robin and Shane also called.  They also spoke with Jack and Claire which was nice.  I pray we have a nice weekend together.

Finished putting the LRA newsletter together this evening as I won't have much time tomorrow.  I hope it's useful and worthwhile.

Now to bed for some much needed rest!  -Amy

AAAAaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh...

Been working Friday, Saturday, and Sunday... not had time for much else!

Today, my dh suggested we go for a hike- what a fabulous idea!  So, we spend the entire morning at Highbanks Park hiking.  There is no air as fresh as in the woods.  Aaahhh.  We enjoyed the slowly running streams.  Jack spotted a barn owl!  Eric found a gorgeous butterfly.  We had fun just being together.  Aaahh.

I'm really looking forward to camping at the end of the month.  praying for ideal weather.

School officially begins tomorrow.  I think we'll hold some of the time outdoors.  Aaahh.  -Amy

ethereal day

It's cool and rainy... overcast and quiet.  This weather reminds me that summer is on its way out and soon fall will be all around us.  I just love fall!  Making bread this morning... and finishing some laundry.  Still a few more scopes and plans to do for school.  All these things together kind of gives me that ethereal state of mind.

Last Sunday we worshipped in song and I heard a song again for the first time-- In Christ Alone.  There are few songs written today that have the impact and depth of classic hymns, but this one, THIS ONE has both.  Here are the lyrics:

In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
'Till on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost it's grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Brought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
'Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand

-Amy

Claire's thoughts as school begins...

I'm so excited for LRA and school to start!  They sound so fun and this year I'm going to be in Group C which has four classes- Art, Writing, Music, and Gym.  I'm looking forward to music the most because Mrs. Stetz was my teacher last year.  I like to sing too.

The reason I'm so excited about school is there are a lot more things I can do.  They also sound so fun.

We will be getting up at 6:00 in the morning!  I can get my school done early.  We're about the only homeschoolers on our street.

I'm going to do tap and ballet this year.  Tomorrow is my first practice!  And I also have soccer too!  And mandolin lessons.  Thursdays are busy.  I've never done tap before and I think it's fun.

Looking back and looking ahead...

Welcome to Liberty Belle Homeschool Blog.  Our family decided to rename our homeschool this year.  We came up with using our dog Liberty and cat Belle names together.  We like it!

We had a pretty good day today all in all.  There's a bit to accomplish before school starts on Tuesday 9/5.  And I've been working at JoAnn Fabrics quite a bit.  We all are excited and just KNOW that this is going to be a FANTASTIC YEAR for us all!

It's interesting to think back on all that's occurred this summer....  This summer I've been able to organize our home library.  Robin, Eric and I painted the basement floor (gold and cream diamonds- looks superb!), workout, walk, and ride bikes regularly, gone canoeing once and planning another trip later in September, traveled to a prayer seminar in Albany NY, reorganized my kitchen and pantry, started working part-time, got new glasses and contacts, finished the Beth Moore bible study LIVING BEYOND YOURSELF, kept up my front garden, signed on as editor of the homeschool group newsletter, helping with the hs group speech meet, started a new yahoo group, getting involved in a new church/group, and just lovin' my sweet youngins!!!

There's so much to enjoy.  -Amy
