Well, this is exciting. This post begins a new Young Andi story, written by Saved Girl, a recent graduate of the Reach for the Stars Writing Workshop. I promised to post any stories you wrote about Andi and Taffy and their friends. So here's Chapter 1 of Andi--Lost!

Chapter 1-
She's beautiful! thought eight-year-old Andi, leaning over the fence as she gazed at her horse, Taffy. "Come here Taffy, come on girl," she said holding a carrot in her outstretched hand.
The two-year-old palomino needed no further encouragement. She eagerly trotted towards Andi, snorting as if to say, "Finally."
Andi laughed as Taffy's whiskers tickled her hand. Suddenly she felt a hand descend upon her head. She shrieked and spun around. "Chad! How dare you sneak up on me," she said to her older brother.
"Having fun with Taffy?" he asked, ignoring her wrath.
"Yes," she replied. "Chad, can we train her some more tomorrow?"
"No, Mother wants me to go to a talk someone is giving in town. We'll be gone all day."
"Well, then, could Mitch help me?"
"No, he and Melinda are coming too."
Andi turned away from Chad with a pout on her face. He had just ruined her perfectly good day. The whole afternoon she had been looking forward to training Taffy the next day.
That evening Andi was still in a bad mood.
"Andrea," her mother began. Andi almost rolled her eyes when her mother used her full name. She much preferred Andi. "Why are you acting upset?"
Andi explained how she had hoped to work with Taffy and had been disappointed.
She heard her sister Melinda sigh heavily. Her older sister was becoming more and more ladylike every day. "Really Andi, I think you are acting rather childish," she said.
"It would be easier if I could just ride her."
"Andi you know you can't do that yet. She is much too young to ride yet. And you, young lady, are much too young to be riding alone," Chad said.
Andi pouted. She had understood when Taffy was a baby, but now she was certainly big enough to ride.
"Andrea, this behavior is unacceptable," her mother gently reproved. "Go up to your room and go to bed."
With a sigh Andi dragged herself upstairs.
The next morning at breakfast Andi quietly endured all the instructions that were given to her regarding chores and the like.
Once they were gone, Andi ran up to her room and threw herself on the bed in anger. Suddenly a thought struck her: since nobody was home she could just take Taffy for a ride and be back before the others were home. They wouldn't be back until after dinner. Andi moved quickly as she prepared for the ride. Taffy was her horse. Nobody could tell her what not to do with her.
