Our Montessori Journey

• Jan. 31, 2006 - Keeping track again?

well, I didn't keep track yesterday like I wanted to.  I had a running narrative going in my head, but the babies kept me too busy to stop and write it down.  The good thing about that was I got a lot of exercise -- bouncing, walking, bouncing, walking...

I put in an order for some fraction bars and circles yesterday.  My 6 yo seems to be interested in fractions, and I don't really have anything for her to use on her own.  Hopefully they'll come pretty soon.  I also picked up some cross-stitch supplies last night at Walmart, which I hope to put out for the kids over the next few days.  It's the only kind of sewing I know how to do, and I think they'd benefit from some handwork to teach concentration.

Angela,

Until your materials arrive, we had a fun time doing simple fraction work with a laughing cow cheese wheel -- it is divided into 6 or 8 peices, so you can talk about how you would share it among different numbers of people, make equivelent fractions, etc.

Have fun!
