3 Branches of Government Lapbook
"Princess" was having a tough time learning the 3 Branches of Government.
To be honest some adults have trouble with it. So we
decided to create a lapbook on just that topic.
For the Cover we found some art from the net.
We found a great photo with the preamble on it as well as the
state capital.

In the inside we decided Branches sounded like trees. So we created a paper tree and added the branches with mini books.

The White house at the top is representing the Executive Branch.
We have the Judicial Branch next.
The state capital for the Legislative Branch.
Then below that branch we have Congress (library of congress)
and the House of Represenatitves.
Each of the mini books inside has facts about each branch. In particular what job each has or what power each has. Very fun and by George I think shes got it. :)
Some other resources we used..

This is excellent. I am helping teach the 2nd and 3rd graders in our Co-op and we will be doing Government in the next quarter. I would really like to do this with them. I have never made a lapbook before, but I have read up on them. So I think I'll do this too.

Hello Dear (long time no hear from me, I know - I'm soooo behind on visiting almost EVERYONE),
I was just looking up lapbook ideas for civics/branches of government and googled you. :) What a GREAT idea - I love the tree branches way to display them - very clever! I'm not really planning on doing a gov. lapbook this year - just thinking ahead on how to make a boring subject fun. :) I'll have to try to keep this in my memory for the future. Thanks for sharing your creativity with me/us.
