Read the bible through the Year!!
Welcome to Bible through the year. You are welcome to
join me in my quest to read my bible in a year. I am starting
in Genesis and working my way through the bible hopefully
finishing in one year. I am encouaging others to join me on this
quest. Everyday I post the passages we are reading. Then all
You need to do is post on your blog your thoughts on
this passage. You are welcome to snag the graphic.
Then link up with Mr. Linky. Then I will come
and read your post too. I am thinking this could become a valuable
resource to all of us as we go through the bible.
*note I took Mr. Linky from this post
because of the pay if Forward book
exchange. At this time I can only use on
Mr. linky per day and only one shows
per page due to me being on the
free Mr. Linky. I am working on
upgrading to Gold member so this
will no longer be an issue but
am waiting on Paypal to transfer funds
from my bank or
vise versa. Thanks for being patient.
Genesis 24:1-28:9
In the beginning of our reading today we come
to Abraham sending a servant to find a wife
for his son Isaac. Again God gives us a clear
message in following him and having patience
in waiting for what is right. He will answer but in
his own time and when it is to be revealed to us.
As time progresses Isaac has two sons that he
names Jacob and Esau. Esau is the first born son
and has the pride of his birth right. One day he
carelessly allows his birth right to be given to his
brother for a warm meal. Later Jacob and his mother
sneak to make sure that Jacob receives the
blessing above his brother. As I think on this I
wonder how often we are pressured to do just
that. To quickly answer or are pressured to answer
that we in turn make the wrong steps or decisions
that will later affect our entire lives. Not even
realizing at the time thinking that it’s such an
insignificant decision. Yet it turns out down that
road that it wasn’t so insignificant after all. We
need to remember to go to God. We/I don’t have
to answer someone right away. I can go
and talk to God before making decisions.
Dear Heavenly Father,
You are so wonderful , holy and loving. I thank you for being by my side as I make my way through Genesis. I pray that you will help me and my readers to come to you. We will allow you to take the lead in our lives. Not to let the pressures of life lead us but to truly allow you to lead. I know that you know what is best for me.
In Jesus name I pray
Amen

Morning!

Hi Nikki,
Good post =) This is one of those accounts in the bible that is good to go to when talking about honoring your mother and father and if obedience is always honoring every time!. Jacob's obedience to his mother led to consequences for his mother as well, she had to send her favorite away and never saw him again (I think).
Also a great illustration of "what goes around comes around" since Jacob was deceived in turn by Laban and later by his sons who led him to believe that Joseph was dead.
Hope you have a great day!
In Christ,
Jennifer
