Train up a Child -- Being there for you little one

Every Year I like to help with Vacation Bible school at our
church. In the past I have helped with the little ones and
then years later moved out to the craft area
so I could see all of my children pass through.
This year however I have decided
to help with Spirit boys group. I have done this for all of
them when they were to small for mommy to be comforatable
in leaving them alone . Now its Spirit boys turn.

As a homeschooling mom it might not surprise you
when I say that I believe in being involved in what my children
are doing. I want them to see me working and playing
beside them. So I help out in whatever they are doing
to encouage them and let them know they
are so important to me. By helping with VBS
for my other children I get into the complex
realization that Spirit boy is probably to small
to participate on his own. Then I decide to participate
at his age level. To be there to watch over him
and guide him where needed.

I strongly believe that when they are young
you keep them close to you. Allowing them to
watch and participate in whatever you are doing.
Yes , this makes things take longer when
accomplishing tasks and Yes it
can be frustrating at times. However as time progresses
you reap the awards by seeing your older children
able to function in society in a respectable way.

As an example I know that during Vaction bible
school that my teen will be able to actually help
now and know what is expected of her. I know that
Princess and Superboy will be able to enjoy the
activities on their own . I know that Spirit boy will
have me with him to guide him and learn a new
behaviour. All the children will have me at their
finger tips if need be. Each are now at a different
level of being able to enjoy this event. This
goes just as well for home activities. Each being
able to complete things at a different level
and then eventually into adulthood.

When they are little keep them close
and teach them well.
