Train up a child--- Leading the way!

Lead the way!
Yesterday the children and I went to our local state
park . I may have mentioned before that our local library
is doing letter boxing this year. We were given a field guide
book to use. The theme for this year is bugs which is a
great theme to go along with the letterboxing. There
are several parks involved with this in our area. Yesterday
we visited one such park. This park has 3 boxes hidden
in their park. We so far have located 2. The kids were
getting hot and tired so we will look for the 3rd another day.
The idea of the journey is to use you guide and blindly
follow the directions until you reach your destination not
actually knowing where that might be.....
Pass the bird houses and continue straight ahead
Facing the bridge across the water, turn left
and walk along the edge of the water. ....
I allowed the children to lead us along. taking turns
reading the direction and leading the way. At one
point we made a wrong turn and almost missed our
mark but Daddy saw the way and turned us around.
At another location we ended up almost where we started
making a loop of sorts.
This was a lesson for our children in many ways.
Our Bug Guide was our manual
( as is our bible) We must follow what it says
or we may get lost and although we at times
make a wrong turn. Moms and Dads
are here to help them get back on the right track .
As so goes my favorite bible verse..
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart. Lean not on your own
understanding. In all ways acknowledge him. He will
make your path straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6

Kids finding their letter box. Not a great photo but you
can see they were all smiles.

Our family loves letterboxing. So far we have found two boxes at the state park nearby. What a great homeschooling project as well.
