Tackle it Tuesday

For this weeks Tackle it Tuesday..
I am tackling my desk. It seems to be a real hot
spot for me since its where I often work.

This is my desk after vacation bible school. Each evening I
would come home and drop. The Aldi bag is full of
supplies that I used during VBS. Beside it is the basket
I used to collect name tags and the clipboard for sign in
sign out. The workbook on the table is one I found at
Target. Its our states and capital book. On top of the
computer are various school things I was working on and
a puzzle. I think I even spot a roll of toilet paper. Used
because the tissues ran out. lol
And now for the clean desk.....

Everything in its place. Look I'm logged on. :)
You can also see Princess mouse pad in her
Soccer uniform and Superboys photo at the tea room
with all those hats. Much better.. Now what project
can I dig into next.

Tackle it Tuesday

I don't have any photos today for my tackle it Tuesday.
Today was shopping day. We headed out first to Target
since I had heard on the web that most Targets have
pocket charts for $1. I had found some games and
other things to play with pocket charts for my little ones
on the net. so I hopped over for them. I also found abc magnets,
Incentive charts and little animals of different colors
for sorting.
After that we headed to Aldi. Its a discount type grocery
store. I like to buy my dry goods there. I can buy tons
of things for cheaper prices. We had about 8 bags of
groceries for only a bit of money.
After we went to Giant for our meat. Although I didnt find
anything really good on sale there. We also got lunch
meats for our subs that daddy has been asking for.
I also bought the kids a treat from the bakery
as it was close to lunch and they were hungry.
On the way home Spirit fell asleep squeezing his
whoopie pie. lol What a mess when we got home.
As I pulled into the driveway our youth leader pulled in
behind me. Most families from our church dont live
near us at all , but Bill lives the next town over and
apprently his daughter lives in our town .
You all know what we did next. The piles and piles
of bags back and forth from car to home. I have all
of the children help me with groceries. Even Spirit who
is 2. I'll pull a box of mashed potatoes out of the bag
for him to carry in or the TP or something like that.
Then as we put things away I always give Spirit the
canned goods. The cabinet is low and he can easily
stack groceries inside. He loves doing this job
and he is out of my way while I bag the meat
and put the other items away. Now I am done
shopping for awhile and with VBS next week I
am glad for it. :)

Tackle it Tuesday

For this week tackle it Tuesday I tackled
my desk drawer. I forgot to take a before photo but
have the after. On Sunday a friend gave me a stack of
holiday cards she was going to throw out and asked if
I wanted them. I kept them and put them in a drawer so
that when a holiday came around and if I forgot a card
for someone I would quicky have one to give. I organized
the cards by Christmas , Birthday, blank , sympathy,
anniversary, Thinking of you and other miss match cards.
Then I put a rubber band around them and labeled them.
Now it will be simplier to find the cards I need.
I also tucked in the front of the drawer my bible study
CDs that I have been listening to little by little.
Everything has a spot.
You can see some of the Christmas cards on top. I
have 2 big stacks of those and don't think I'll need
to buy any this year.

Tackle it Tuesday

I was so happy to finally plan my church activities
this week. That may not seem like a big feat but it is when
you are planning for Sunday school, Nursery,
Youth for 2nd-5th graders,
and VBS. Now I must admit that I do not have
youth completely planned as of yet but I have the
yearly chart and am praying about special activities for
the group. Let me tell you what I have planned for Sunday
School and VBS.....
Sunday school
I spend much time and prayer about our church Sunday
School. It is that time of year when we evaluate what
we are doing as a church whole. I have also done
so much research about this topic to help my church
family grow in christ.
My thoughts are that Sunday School is the foundation
of our church or any church for that matter.
At this time I feel that changes can be made. That
we as a whole seem to be overlapping learning
and need to step back and reevaluate where we need
to go. I would truely like to see a level of bible
memory used as well. The general goals
I came up with are..
Equip children to be leaders
Equip teens to witness
Win every pupil
Spiritually Grow
Broaden to our community

In general I feel that my class has to many age levels
within it. So I will ask Wed. evening for the church
to consider changing the age levels. At this time I have
children K and under. This is very difficult for teaching
when Kindergarten can do so much and a toddler
can not do as many things or sit as long.
My ideas is to create a infant/Toddler/Parent
class. Most of my young parents do not want
to leave their little ones . So this class will allow them
to be a part of their childs worship and then have
a brief study as well on being a parent of Christ.
I have also planned the curriculum and will present
all of this Wed. evening so I'll let you know how it goes.
OH and I almost forgot to tell you the name of our group.
What We do MATTERS
Mentors(Since we are inviting mom, dad or grandparent)
And
Toddlers
Together
Experiencing
Real
Spirituality
I also found on the net and idea for community outreach.
The puppet ministry would go to a local park and
preform. Then handing out brochures about our church
to the viewers.
* Update the Toddler class will be implimented a
little at a time to see if families take an interest in this
activity. So This summer we will do a parent /Toddler
special session. Right now the coordinator has a lot
of changes to be made in our Sunday school which are
all really great ideas. So this idea that I have will come!!
I am learning patience. lol
Nursery
As you can tell I have many hats. I dont
have photos of this one since I already
dropped the notebook off but
I created a sheet for easy viewing
of all parents and children and allergies.
I also created a nursery newsletter that will go out
quarterly. I requested catologs online for
purchasing new toys for our classroom.
And am working with the church to purchase pagers
for parents while children are using our facilities.
VBS

This year We are doing the theme Power Lab.
I managed to create directions for all of my helpers
all typed up since some wont be able to attend
the how to meeting. I have the Squeaky beaker Pre K
class. I planned each day out and charted it.
I like to see things organized this way it makes me
Feel I have a plan. I created a list of supplies
and a list of things I have to prepare. I have begun
to prepare the things on that list.

As you can see all of these things are ongoing. They
don't end today but continue. However the bulk of the work
Is completed. I do have to plan J-train yet but
that one is still in prayer. For some reason the
ideas just arent flowing but they will I am sure.
There is a reason for everything.
God bless
Nikki
