Toss the Loss Tuesday is coming to a close.  Since all good things must end.
No worries though. :) I think I will keep posting my own toss the loss to update how I am doing and to keep the acountablity for myself. I will also keep posting any new cooking tips or diet ideas on Tuesday. So good luck to you all and keep in touch.

Toss the Loss Tuesday

Today I would like you to post how things are going for you. Have you lost any weight?
Are you eating healthy? Kind of update us. I am also wondering if many of you are still participating? If you are no longer interested in the group please let me know.
If there is no interest then I will stop posting and go it on my own. (not said in a bad way. :)


How am I doing. Well I had a great week but when I weighed in today. I lost nothing.
It was so frustrating too. I worked I moved around. I ate healthy. I ate salad and nothing.
I am not to worried though I am having that bloaty feeling and all us females know what that means. Anyway all is good and I will keep treking. Uggh short season is on its way.

Go here and create a ticker for you website. I think it might help us to see this everytime we post. I started mine on todays weight since I am not exactly postive what I lost in detail. Its been awhile since I lost, although I think it was about 30 lbs. So for the sake of the ticker I am just starting at 0lbs. lost at  this time. I am going  to post it on my webpage somewhere.

How am I doing? Well I didnt meet my goal for March. To many busy days and quick fast food. :( I have not gained anything though. Although it is a challenge right now with all the candy Carl bought the kids but I am doing ok.

My new goal for April Is to loss the 10lbs I wanted to lose in March and to get back into my exercise program. I have been slacking off and need to get going.

The vitamin part of the food label...

     The nutrition information at the top of the label. The transfats, Saturated fats, Cholestrol, and sodium. These things you want to limit as much as possible. These aid in chronic diseases, like heart disease, some cancers, or high blood pressure. So You want to keep these as low as possible.

     Most Americans dont get enough of these so you want to try to find food high in dietary fiber, vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium, and iron in their diets.

Now understanding the daily value....
     The DV is the advice for a 2,000 calorie diet. So you need to know how many calories you are working with and then compare the percentages to help you to know what you are supposed to be eating. How much more you may have or less you may have.

      I know this can be confusing but the more you know the better you health will be. Going on a diet sometimes means you need to talk a multi vitamin to make sure you get the required vitamins you need per day. You may want to ask you Doctor about this at the next visit.

Your assignment this week is to just try to survive the Holiday.
We can still eat but need to limit how much . We can still have a small slice of pie. :) Have any of you reached you goals for March. I would love to make some more sig. tags. Comment if you have. Have a happy Easter.

Hi everyone. How has you week been going? Sorry I havent blogged much . We have been so sick. In fact today Brett has the yucky stomach bug that has been going around our house. I have your siggies over here on this pc now and will email them to you today. :) yeah!!!

Our assignment today will be learning and reading a food label. Dont Panick.  We arent reading the whole label at once. Let me explain a little first.

Here is the food label I will work with...

                  This week we will work on the first two. The serving size and the calorie intake.

Serving size- Serving sizes are standardized to make it easier to compare similar foods; they are provided in familiar units, such as cups or pieces, followed by the metric amount, e.g., the number of grams.The size of the serving on the food package influences the number of calories and all the nutrient amounts listed on the top part of the label. Pay attention to the serving size, especially how many servings there are in the food package. Then ask yourself, "How many servings am I consuming .

Calories- Calories provide a measure of how much energy you get from a serving of this food. Many Americans consume more calories than they need without meeting recommended intakes for a number of nutrients. The calorie section of the label can help you manage your weight (i.e., gain, lose, or maintain.) Remember: the number of servings you consume determines the number of calories you actually eat (your portion amount).

Now for you40 calories is low
100 calories  moderate
400 calories or more High

 assignment -
  I want you to look at a label anything that you eat often. Above I have a cracker label. I tend to pick up six crackers at a time so my calories for this would be 90 calories. Which is very close to moderate. Another question popped into my head. How many calories am I supposed to be consuming? So I searched the net and found how many I am supposed to be consuming in a day. Check it out below. I am supposed to be comsuming 1800 calories per day.
http://www.mypyramid.gov/pyramid/discretionary_calories_amount.html  I read that if you go less then your required amount you body goes into starvation mode and slows your metabolism. When I look at that I wonder if eating those 6 crackers is worthy of my 1800 calories for the day. I want you to post how many calories you are supposed to be eating in a day and then read a label or two and post what you found.

Sorry I am late on this . I couldnt believe I missed Tuesday. I did terrible this week. I ate everything I saw... Not literly. LOL Anyway todays assignment is to post 5 creative Exercises. One you may not have realized or thought about as such. Something light and silly this week. I need that I dont know about you guys. Sorry about not getting the taggies to you. I have them made I just have them on another pc and I havent gotten them moved yet. This weekend I hope. :)

2. Chasing my toddler around
3. Running up the stairs to use the bathroom
4. Dancing to music during music class
5. Maybe I can swivel around in my computer chair. LOL Do you think this would count.

Last weeks assignment was enlightening to myself. lol  I didnt post how to change things though because I feel I have some more to think about on that topic.. OH and for the winners of the contest your taggies are almost finished . I did not lose anything this week. I stayed the same but hey better than gaining. I want to really really work hard this week. Hoping next week I have some results. I only like to weigh in on Tuesdays. :) So todays assignment is....

Toss the Loss assignment

Wow I find this assignement hard for myself. It is easier to say nice things about someone else and easier to say bad things about myself.

Ok here goes. Words describing me.

Organized - This can be good and bad. I am organized to the point that is strangles me sometimes. I get frustrated with people who are not organized.

Quiet, shy , outgoing- This may not make sense to you. These are opposites. I am outgoing with people I am comfortable with and places I am comfortable with or familiar with. If given a new situation I tend to stand back . I like to blend in hide. At the same time though I can get to loud sometimes with friends. Although they have never complained I guess I feel I get to loud.

Wont stand up for myself-  I dont stand up for myself rarely ever. I usually will be very polite and say ok sorry. I'm sorry... I'm sorry. Now that I type that I think I say I'm sorry like 50 times a day. What am I apologizing about anyway. ?

Faithful in Christ- Yet I waiver in my belief in that I can be forgiven. That my sins are to big. That one day I will go to him and he wont know me. That he will turn from me. I am faithful in that I know he is there and that he does love me. Faithful in prayer . Faithful in deeds. Faithful in my love for HIM.  Thats almost a contradiction isnt it. I am not faithful in myself or my belief that I am worthy of forgiveness.

Artistic- Ok maybe a should say I like art. I like it I am not an expert though. Its something I enjoy.

Nurturing
gentle
caring


Emotional, Deep thinker, worrier- I am extremely emotional at times but dont let on . I tend to keep things to myself. Keep them inside. I tend to disect situations to death. Worry them over or what could happen. I need to learn to let them to God. I have gotten a little better at that one.

I am very good at keeping secrets.

So the winner of the Toss the Loss contest... is actually a combo of ideas so everyone that posted one will get a siggie. Probably not today I am to busy but you will get one soon. So here is the challenge for today. Everyone needs to post your short term goal for March... Whatever that is. If you complete you goal by March 31st you will get a new siggie. :) How does that sound. I know a lot of you have made your short term goal already but if you could please post it here by leaving a comment. That way I know who is willing to play the game.

My short term goal is to lose 10lbs by the end of March. :)

 The other challenge for this week to to create a collage of words or a list of words that describe you . Then tell us which words you want to change and how you might go about changing it. This might seem silly for a weight loss challenge but a lot of the changes that need made have to do with you and how you see yourself.

I will post my own assignment later. I want to think about it some myself.

Hey everyone!!! I have to admit that I myself am not doing to well with this whole thing. For some reason I just cant get going. So I want to post today on toss the loss a little contest. I want a clever idea in rewarding Toss the loss members when they reach a goal. Leave a comment with your idea. The winner will win a new siggie.

Plus dont forget to blog about you short term goal and how its going for you. Obviously it is not going well for me. I did buy some new clothes to help me with my self esteem . I am excited about those... I bought a new pair of jeans which I rarely wear but have been wearing more lately since I lost a few pounds before. I also bought 2 skirts at walmart for you'll never guess $2.50 a pc. amazing.  I have not owned a skirt in several years!!!

Hi everyone. Doing ok here although we have been shut in due to weather and a broken car. Thankfully the car goes in today. Yay..
How are all of you this week?

Our assignment today is to create a short term goal. Something attainable. It could be adding an exercise or more reps in an exercise Or eating more veg. or a goal to lose 10lbs by the end of March. We will do these short terms goals regularly to update our needs because each one of us is different. Some of us want to lose a little weight, some a lot, some want to feel healthy and eat healthy.
Also I want everyone to post a link of one interesting healthy website you have found. :)


My short term goal is to lose 15 lbs by the end of March.

Hi everyone. I hope your week went well. I am a little behind in visiting everyone but not to worry I will be by this week sometime. I seem to be stuck here till my car can get into the garage next week. :)
How was you week? Drinking lost of water. Sticking to one plate and how is the exercise going. Todays assignment is to look and try a new low fat recipe or post your favorite low fat recipe.


I am still having a little difficulty with the water. I am not thirsty much but I know I have to work on this one. I am trying to keep some water with me. I have to keep ice in it to keep it cold. Thats they only way I like to drink water. Really cold. Exercise is going ok. I have only begun with stretching exercises. I am going to have to work up to more exercise.

Here is one of my favorite recipes. We love fried chicken here but hate the calories. So I bought Oprahs Favorite Recipes
The book In the kitchen with Rosie. by Rosie Daley

Unfried Chicken
2.2 grams of fat per breast
Calories 185
Fat per drum stick 4.2 grams
Calories 195

Light veg. oil cooking spray
6 chicken drumsticks remove the skin
3 wholde chicken breasts , halved and remove skin
3 1/2 cups ice water
1 cup of plain nonfat yogurt

for breading

1 cup dried Italian bread crumbs
1 cup of all pupose flour
1 tablespoon Old bay powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 Creole seasoning
1/8 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
Dash of cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon of thyme
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon  dried oregano

preheat oven to 400 degrees
Coat a baking sheet with 3 sprays of the vegetable oil
Put chicken in a  large bowl with ice water. Put the yogurt into a medium bowl. Set both bowls aside>
Toss all the breading ingredients into a large, tightly sealing plastic bag. Seal and shake well to mix.
Remove 2 pc. of chicken from the ice water. Roll each pc in the yogurt. Put the chicken into a plastic bag, reseal, and shake to coat throughly. Transfer the breaded chicken to the prepared baking sheet. Repeat the process until all 12 pc. are breaded. Spray the chicken lightly with the veg. oil.
Place the baking sheet on the bottom shelf of the oven and bake for 1 hour., turning pc. every 20 min. to allow even browning.
Serve hot or at room temp.

Hi everyone . How is your week going? Are you drinking lots of water?
What I want you to post today is how did your first week of exercise go?

Personally mine did not go well. We were racing everywhere as you probably saw and now today Carl is home sick . I am not wiggling my butt in front of him while he lays on the sofa. LOL that sounded bad, but you all know what I mean. However I am excited about my plan and will start it tomorrow when he is hopefully back to work.  :)

How was you week? Any challenges in eating heathly?

I did just ok this week. We were so busy I had some of the same problems I have had in the past. Finding time to prepare something. I am going to have to find a way to prepare some quick things on the weekends ahead of time. My exercise program for myself will be Monday thru. Friday every morning. I know that seems high for myself but I am a routine girl. If I tried alternating I wouldnt stick to it. On weekends my schedule varies , Plus I am not thrilled about dh standing on watching me workout. LOL So Mon.- friday for me. I am a pretty out of shape so I want to start with minimal stretching exercises and then progress from there. This is my plan and I am sticking to it. :)

Hi everyone! How did your week go? Did we have any sucesses.
I lost 2lbs. !!!I know not much but a start. This week I would like you to post about your food journal. What things did you see you need to change? Did anything jump out at you? Was there are certain time of day that you want to eat more. (New challenge is below)


My Food journal results.

For some reason I tend to eat more unhealthy things at lunch. This is the time the kids are eating and have some free time. I am quickly grabing something and not taking the time to make something healthy because I want to get the laundry done or the dishes and get those papers ready or corrected before we continue with our lessons.

The other problem seems to be my spouse. He brings me things that are unhealthy or adds something extra to my food. (he like to cook)

So my plan of attack is to create my lunch the night before and to have a talk with Carl. I need his support not his sabotage. :)

Challege for next week:
Your challenge is to eat one plate of food. (which some of you might do now) And to make sure you drink lots of water. How much water you might ask. Here is a great article to help you answer that...


How much water should you drink per day?

(If you already do these things you are one step ahead and the next challenge maybe tougher I will give you a heads up in that we will be starting an exercise program. So think awhile what you would like that exercise to be)

Well I hate to say it but I have had a really bad week on the weightloss challenge. I have not lost a thing but the blessing is I have not gained a thing either. I have new member Donna. Heres is her web address http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/alwayslearning/  

If there is anyone else interested in joining us on our journey we would love to have you. Even if you would not like to join it would be helpful to Donna and I if you posted about our challenge on your blogs to help us get the word out for those that need the support. I think in supporting one another we can have more loss and more encouragement which we all sometimes need.  I also have decided to open this to other bloggers not just on HSB. If you missed what Toss the loss is its a weight loss challenge group that supports one another. I am also posting assignments  that you can blog about on you blogs to help with the emotional aspects as well.

Assignment #2

Keep working on you food journal for the week. We will post an assigment next week on the results.

Our Blog assignment is What is keeping you unhealthy?

I do not exercise enough
 I consume too many calories
 Food helpings are too big 
I eat too much packaged and processed food
 I drink too many sodas
I eat too many carbohydrates

I make to many excuses I will do it tomorrow. I am to tired today.We are to rushed to prepare healthy foods.  I dont have time to prepare a proper grocery list.

Bonus: We have to change what we say to ourselves so today write what you will tell youself every morning till it sticks. Post it where you can see it. On you computer on your fridge.

I am Gods child and am worthy of a healthy life. I will succeed today and if I fall I will pick myself up and try again. I will take things one step at a time and I will provail.

Toss the Loss

I am still looking for some support with my weight loss challenge for 2007. If anyone wants to participate  leave me a comment.  You will also get a cute button for your side bar. The idea of Toss the Loss is to work on the weight loss one step at a time. Changing one thing at a time and emotionally understanding the problem by posting assignments and completing them on our blogs as a diet journal.

Todays Assignment #1

Today I want you to think about why you want to lose the weight what is your motivators. You want to be able to come back to this list when you are feeling down or when you might feel like eating a chocolate bar. :) Really think about it . What you have to gain by losing and if you have any fears post them as well. Also you have a paper assignment for the week. Write down what you eat all week long and exactly how you are feeling. This will help us to evalutate where we are and what we have to change.


My list

1. Spritual reasons. God wants me to take care of my body.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (AMP) 19 Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You are not your own, 20 You were bought with a price [purchased with a preciousness and paid for, made His own]. So then, honor God and bring glory to Him in your body.

2. I just want to be healthy. I think God put it in us to want this to strive for it. I want to be here a long time for my children my health is important.

3. For my children. (Although I do this now) I want to run and play with them in comfort.
I want to ride that bike with them this summer and keep up with them. Brody is soon to be a toddler and I need to keep my wits about me. He will be a mover for sure.

4. For my spouse

5. For me to stive to be who I really am. Who I really want to become. The weight sometimes holds me back. I wonder what people with think and with the loss is the fear of what I will be face to do or accomplish as I go.
