Hello,
I realized tonight how much I love snuggling up with the kids and reading before bed. It has been drizzling here on and off all day and tonight as I was reading to the kids it was drizzling. I love that sound of the rain on the rooftop. It seems so cozy to be in the bed reading as it rains outside.
I had my ds read a Litttle Golden Book about spring and then he wanted to read "How the Turtle Got It's Shell". My daughter LOVES to hear the Serendipity books by Stephen Cosgrove, and they were my favorite as a child as well.
After ds read his books, I started a new Magic Treehouse Book. My dc LOVE this series, and it is just perfect becasue it is about a brother and sister (just like them) taking adventures through time via a magic treehouse. Sometimes I here my kids playing "Jack and Annie" in the backyard. I love how the books spark their imagination. My ds is just about at the stage of reading to where he will enjoy reading these books by himself, but for now they like it when I read them. The last one I read them was about the TItanic. This fit in just great because we had just recently went to the Orlando Science Center and saw the Titanic display and show. We are on "Buffalos Before Breakfast" now, and it is about the Lakota Indians.
Some other books twe have recently read are ones that I ordered from sonlight . They were "Gooney Bird Green", and "Mrs. Piggle Wiggle". They both enjoyed these books a lot.
I try to instill a love of books in them, and I think I have done it. My dd walks around and pretends to read books that we have read, and she makes up her own little stories using the characters she has heard me read about. What an imagination she has!! She always says that she can't wait to learn to read like her brother.
Well, it is getting late and I have some things to do before bed, so goodnight, and God Bless.
