In a Manner Worthy

Aug. 8, 2006 - I'm Baaaaaccckk!!

With our computer down at home and preparing for the move I haven't been able to update in quite a while.  I'll try to catch up on some of the highlights...

We are now settling down here at language school in Tx.  Everyone has been extremely nice and I look forward to meeting more of the students as everyone gets settled in this week.  We've been here for exactly a week already, arriving early to get all the "housekeeping" details that are involved in a move taken care of before classes begin.  Our housing is small but very sufficient since we brought only what we could fit in the two vans with us.  Everything else was put in storage or gotten rid of in the move.  The apartment is furnished, but you'd be surprised how many "necessities" you find you have to bring along!  Just our bedding, clothes for 7 people, computer, curriculum, and kitchen items filled us to the brim!

We spent 5 days on the road getting here because Ralph preached in AK on the way out, which is not exactly along the way!  We were blessed at the churches and had a really cool time taking a side field trip to Hot Springs before heading out again.  Ralph and I both drove so that we could take both vans, and the walkie talkies that we used to communicate were a lifesaver.  I hate driving when I don't know where I'm going anyway, and especially trying to follow someone, so I never could have done it without them.  Basically most of the drive was uneventful aside from some panicking on my part in Birmingham and some of the TX cities that we had to pass through.  We were SOOOO tired when we finally arrived!

Anyway, the past week has just flown by as we've gotten acquainted with the area  and taken care of various things getting settled and set up here.  I love being so close to everything after living out in the middle of nowhere for the past year and a half.  The kids are enjoying being able to play outside on the closed campus and meeting new friends.  Most of the families here have several children and homeschool, so we look forward to making many new friendships with likeminded neighbors!

That's all for now.  I'm having to use the computer lab here on campus until we get our computer set up, but I'll be better about updating frequently from here on!  Adios!
