An unexpected blessing from going to bed & getting up early

Posted in Sharing my heart

I just wanted to share what an unexpected blessing going to bed and getting up early has been for us!  We (dh and I) were in a pattern of me going to bed around 10 -10:30 and my dh usually going to bed later (staying up and watching TV)...the result being that we rarely got to bed at the same time.  My dh said he wasn't able to go to sleep that early and would wait until he was tired (after hours of random TV watching, sometimes until after midnight)...the only time he would come to bed at the same time as me was if he felt 'passionate' so to speak (sadly, I must admit, this was usually only when his need outweighed his feelings of not wanting to 'bother' me any more than necessary).  And to tell the truth, I was pretty much used to going to bed on my own and felt a little put out when my 'routine' was interrupted.  Ugh, what a sad state that side (and what a BIG side!) of our marriage has been in.  It's an area I've really struggled with :-(

So now...we are both going to bed early (we agreed to go to bed between 8 - 9pm and get up between 5-5:30am), and I'm not "too tired", it's not "too late" and we are both being blessed by this special (and oh-so-necessary-for-our-marriage) time together!  There is plenty of time to be intimate, and then chat afterwards (always when we do our best heart-to-heart talking...it didn't happen often enough before at all!).  This has been the one area of our marriage that has (for a long time) not been going smoothly, despite my on-and-off efforts, so this is a huge blessing for us!  Praise the Lord!
So, turn off that TV (or computer!) and get to bed early with your sweetheart!  You (and your husband!) will be so blessed!
Be blessed
Ang

Well, that would, um, explain the dearth of recent entries. ;-)

Seriously, good for you. I go to bed much later than Hubby b/c I enjoy the peace & quiet after everyone is in bed. But it is always so difficult to find time to talk to each other. Hmm, I am chewing on this idea. Going to bed at the same time as Hubby; what a novel thought. Actually our 11-y/o son usually goes to bed w/dad for a while and that is *their* time to talk. I should be jealous.
