Homeschooling with a Meek & Quiet Spirit CH3 - P1

Posted in Homeschooling with a Meek & Quiet Spirit

I was going to write more about chapter 2, but as I flicked through it just now (I've already read the whole book!) I realised that the rest of the chapter is very personal, to do with your personal relationship with the Lord, so I'll leave that part for you to work through on your own!

Chapter 3: Fear & Worry

(everything in italics and coloured red is a direct quote from the book)

2 Timothy 1:7 states, "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

"Yet, how often do we find our meek and quiet spirit disturbed by fear?  Perhaps you are concerned about your ability to actually facilitate the education of your child.  Maybe you are worried about your curriculum choices.  It could be you are feeling that your daily example to your children is not good for them.  There are many areas of our homeschooling lives that can be bombarded by fears.  How do we combat these?"

Now, I don't know about you, but those things mentioned above certainly ring a bell with me!  How often is MY meek and quiet spirit stolen from me by feelings of inadequacy, fear and worry?  Far too often!  I know, in my heart of hearts, that God would not have asked me to do something that I am incapable of (with His help!), but it's oh-so-easy to forget that in the hustle and bustle of daily life with my children.

Don't change course!

"Begin by recalling how you were led to your homeschooling adventure in the first place.  Few will homeschool without the knowledge that this is God's direction for their family.  Keep in mind that the Lord uses difficulties in what we are doing to refine and grow us.  Seldom are those struggles a signal to undo what He has called us to do!  The problems should be pulling us to a greater level of seeking the Lord and depending on Him."

Amen!  It is so helpful to bring this to our minds every time we start feeling like "I just can't DO this any more!!"  Don't pull away from what the Lord has called you to do, pull IN closer to Him!  We can do all things (including homeschooling!) through Christ who strengthens us!!
