Captive Thoughts:
Now I know most of us will be familiar with this scripture: "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." 2 Corinthians 10:5
But (tell the truth now!), how often do you actually DO this in your everyday life? For some of you, it will be something you do almost sub-consciously, and for others (like me!) this is something that we have to work at every day, every moment. We DO have a choice about how we allow ourselves to feel and react about things...and it all starts with our thoughts. If we can change our thoughts (take them captive!), then we can change our actions and reactions to those things in our lives that steal our meek and quiet spirits. But on the other hand, if we allow our thoughts to wander freely, we tend to dwell on things, mulling them over and over in our heads, until we are so overwhelmed and frustrated, that we just want to run and hide...I know I have a strong tendency to do that! How much easier will it be, if we can learn to take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ?
Your Special Scripture:
Do you have one? One that relates to homeschooling, and to your everyday life? One that reassures and comforts you when things get tough? If God didn't put one on your heart when you started this journey, ask Him for one!!
Here is one of my special ones: "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2
So find your verse, meditate on it and hide it away in your heart!
Our Weapon:
PRAYER, PRAYER, PRAYER!! Trying to choose a homeschool curriculum for the next year? Pray! Trying to reorganise your routine? Pray! Trying to work through some difficult discipline issues? Pray! Don't try and figure it all out on your own! The Lord, loves you and cares about every part of your day! Take it to Him! Nothing is too big or small for our God!
The Lord, The Teacher:
Isaiah 54:13 says "All your sons will be taught by the LORD, and great will be your children's peace."
So, who is teaching your children? If we were convicted by the Lord to homeschool our children, then we need to trust in Him, that He will teach them...take those thoughts captive! Your children will be taught by the Lord!! If you have prayed about your homeschooling, your routine, your curriculum, and received your answers (in whatever way that is for you), then you can rest and be comforted by the knowledge that you are doing exactly what God wants you to be doing...you don't need to stress about your children's progress (or apparent lack thereof) or whether you really should have brought that other curriculum...you can rest in the knowledge, that you prayed about it and it was what the Lord wanted for you. Maybe they aren't making the progress you hoped they would be, but perhaps God had some other type of learning in mind...perhaps it was patience, obedience or learning to persevere when things get tough.
Okay, that's all I have time for today!! I can't wait to hear your comments and thoughts!
Love & blessings
