Christian Vs. Secular Music Pt. V

12:18 AM, Jun. 26, 2006 .. Posted in Deep Thoughts .. 5 comments .. Link

Time for a reply. :) DeepBlueSkittle (http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/DeepBlueSkittle/ <-- Link codes aren't working for some reason. Sorry.) posted a comment on one of my Christian Vs. Secular Music entries.

"I just don't get why we have to close our minds completely to everything around us." - DeepBlueSkittle
I did not suggest that. I'm not suggesting be closed minded, I'm suggesting that we need to open our eyes to the world and weigh what is happening with the world according to the Scriptures. The Bible is our guidemap and we should follow it carefully, searching out the Scriptures dilligently, and weigh what we view in the world and have our minds renewed to what the Bible has to say and not what the World has to say.
"God put us on this earth to love him and to love people. Part of loving people is respecting them, and part of respecting them is listening and understanding them, and not everything we say and do and feel is biblical; even as Christians." - DeepBlueSkittle
This point isn't very relevant to the spectrum of Secular Vs. Christian music, but nonetheless, you can still disapprove of someones taste in music and respect them at the same time, and love them as Christ would.
"I'm not saying secular artists are Godly people or we have to follow their examples. But not all of them are complete evil. Maybe if we can show them that, even though we don't agree with them, we're still open to hear what they have to say, then we can start to show them that not all religious people are hypocrites." -DeepBlueSkittle
I really do not believe that can work for most Secular artists. You do know that some of these artists are in business to abolish Christianity? Take for example Marilyn Manson, who proudly states, "Hopefully, I’ll be remembered as the person who brought an end to Christianity." (Spin magazine, August 1996, p. 34)

Yes, I know, I used an extreme example, but all of us are sinners, nobody is "less evil" than another. Christians are sinners whose sin is covered by Jesus' blood and are living for Him. Non-christians are those who belong to the world and are living for themselves (In other words, the "All About Me" group of people, which is the core belief of the Church of Satan. But I will leave that point alone since everyone will misread me and say that I am suggesting everyone who is not a born-again is a Satan worshipper.)
"I personally think that's why people do turn their backs on God, it's because of people like us who call ourselves christians and yet we show hatred toward their ways and complete lack of understanding toward their feelings." -DeepBlueSkittle
I'm not speaking to the Non-Christians in these entries. I am speaking to Christians who wish to indulge in Secular music constantly. Why would I want to start pointing out everything wrong about a non-christian person? I would know they are lost. Why would I begin to point out all their faults when they do not even know what they are doing is wrong? I do understand them, they are lost and they need a Savior and they need a new life in Christ. I'm not going to go bashing everything about them to bring them to Christ, I'm going to teach them of the new life they can recieve through Christ and then teach them of Gods' Word which shows us how to live our new lives.

As for Christians, I will say this loud and clear and I will never back down, I believe it is wrong for Christians to make a regular habit of listening to music that doesn't honor the Lord. Here's a Scripture to help explain my point...
"And no man putteth new wine into old wine-skins; else the new wine will burst the skins, and itself will be spilled, and the skins will perish." Luke 5:37
This basically means that if a worldly person becomes a Christian, they shouldn't try to keep their old ways (Ungodly music, alcoholism, violence, drugs, etc) when living their new life in Christ, which is what I have been trying to convey through these entries about Secular music Vs. Christian music.
"They're not biblical, or Godly." The world isn't all Godly. People are not Godly." -DeepBlueSkittle
No, they're not. But Christians are redeemed by Christ, and we can break away from the world and walk in the ways of godliness if we surrender to Him.

But as for the rest of your comment, I can't reply to it effectively with the subject matter considering it doesn't seem to pertain to Secular Vs. Christian music.

I hope this post cleared up a few things about where I'm coming from. :)

You are a very wise and intelligent young woman. You support your points very effectively. Once I became a parent, I became very aware of the music that was going into the ears of my children. Now, it is only the christian station or country music that is christian oriented or family-values oriented (i.e. "Jesus Take the Wheel", "He Was Tougher Than Nails") Young children hear more than we realize and soak it in like sponges. So, I had to ask myself, do I want my 5 year old singing about drugs or God? What would God want this gift he gave us singing? Songs that glorify Him or the devil?

BTW, I saw your rapelling (sp?) photo on your mom's blog...looks like.....fun??? To this 45 year old, it looks awfully scary! I'm adding you to my friends list...hope that is ok!

An old topic, please blame morbidness and youtube

I have a bone to pick, or your brain if given.

I do have a very serious problem, and I suppose I'm picking on you with this, but thats my job i suppose.

I completely dissagree with you on this matter, and there are reasons for this. First off all I crack a smile everytime I hear Manson come out of the mouth of a Christian. Now its not out of humor but cockyness. It's rather funny to me due to the fact that I am secure in the believe (not personal knowledge but education) that Manson could shock the Pope with his knowledge in Faith, Religion, and Christianity. I hope you know atleast that his father was ordained and the pastor of a local chruch. ( that might be misspelled and if it is sorry)

More so or not I do find that the complaints towards many stars in the entertainment industry are very shoddy to say the least. I am choosing to use Manson for two reasons. First being the fact that he is generally the fan fav. and because there is a very important flip side to him which is often over looked.

You are infact aware that he himself denotes his fan base? He has openly mocked his fans both pubicly and in his music. He is an extremely intelligent person who more often then not has nothing more then metaphoric lyrics. And not to offend but I want you to at least read this...

[Lyrics Edited]

There is a point where you have to understand he just does it for the money...which is why I suppose that Le'vey welcomed him.

And in a way, i'm exactly like him. Call it whatever you want, the hand of Satan, the push from the dark, it really doesn't matter to me beacuse I hold logic to be my guide. The sad note is that Manson doesn't discredit an existance of God and truth be told he doesn't even try to tear down the walls of heaven, he just really is disgusted at ignorance and hipocracy...something I share well.

And then again, there has always been a threat. Every generation has their star which is the complete downfall to Christian values. Reaching back from Beethovan to Elvis, there has been a consistancy of some figure being the guide of the youth to ****ation. Its tirying and frankly boring. Why doesn't someone just stand up and say "God is a boring subject." and try to change it?

I mean frankly, christians complain about Zao about as much as they prey, and the greif that P.O.D cought from being on MTV was comical.

I personaly believe the before you or anyother christain wants to denote the value of a musical genre, you as a comunity should decide what it is you fully support first. I'm sure that even in your congragation there are Beatle fans right? And were they not problimatic drug using rebels? Or is the topic really just content and not the messenger? Such as Pat Robertson's call for an assasination.

I'll be honest its 8am here and i'm tired, perhaps i presented some of this wrong, but i'm more then happy to debate any topic you imagine.

i'm trying to get rid of all my things around the internet, and this shows up in search engines.
i guess it's an odd request, but i would really appreciate it.

please and thank you.
