The Freethinker

Photo for the 5th

I'm not sure what to say at the moment... But I felt like posting something, I just don't know what. I don't really have anything to say.

To be honest, I do have something on my mind, actually, but I want to find a scripture to back it up before I post whats on my mind right now. Art usually speaks more than a multitude of words, so I will just post a photo since I'm generally absent minded this evening.

The Colorful Margaret H.

Here is the progress of Margaret Herschel. I'm not completely happy with it yet. I'll try to finish this within the week or so.

An Unnoticed Fashion Icon?

Is it just me, or was perhaps Margaret Herschel an unknown Victorian era fashion icon? She was beautiful!
Margaret Herschel was the wife of John Frederick William Herschel. (A scientist, my friends.) Either way, I decided it to be so, so I'm working on a digital painting of her. It's still a work in progress and I actually have the color layer down already, but I'm not at home to upload the color version. Heres a sketch.

Hello All

2:14 AM, Dec. 29, 2006 .. Posted in Art .. 3 comments .. Link

Hey everyone - It's gonna stay Christmas on this blog for a little while, I'm afraid to touch my template lest I lose all my nice little Javascript goodies. So in the mean time, I'll tell you I had a nice Christmas. I got a Wacom Graphire tablet! Woo hoo! CTE-440 if you're a techy nerd and would like to look it up. I'm in love! I've been working on this for the last few days since then: (Be forewarned, it's a work in progress.)

It's Vera Renae again. Still working on her and I still have things to fix, so don't judge based on what you see! :) I love my Wacom tablet!

That's all for now!

Drawing Process

9:14 PM, Jul. 10, 2006 .. Posted in Art .. 2 comments .. Link

So, I decided to take photos of my drawing "process". (Yes, you may all shriek, this first photo of the "rough stages" is scary. Apologies for the bad lighting, by the way. My desk isn't very well lit and I wasn't going to scan this thing seven times or more. You'll get a nice scan of the finished product, eventually.) Its a drawing of a brother and sister... Where they will crop up, I'm not sure. I may stick them in a book, I might keep them around for reference. But anyway...

Shield your eyes!!

Now you can look... Sort of. Cleaned up the girl, now the guy needs a bit of... Ehm.. Plastic surgery...

Argh! Houston, we have a problem. Somehow Brotha turned into a space cadet!

Yow, thanks to my plastic surgeon pencil, Brotha got a new hairdo and a... Well not a nose job, more like a face job...

He visited his hair stylist! And took his sister along! How nice.

Ohh, shiny hair, I wonder what conditioner she uses... Maybe shes born with it. Maybe its Maybel--Wait wrong one... Suave, don't you look smart! Yeah... Well actually, I don't after that one but I don't use Suave eith--anyway...

You'll get a nice scan of the finished product here sometime... Once I stop getting nit-picky! Hope you had fun watching my drawing process. See!! You can be an artist, too! (Trust me.)

Later, folks!

Some sketches...

12:54 AM, May. 16, 2006 .. Posted in Art .. 5 comments .. Link

Hey everyone, I decided to pop in and show you all some sketches I've done in the past month... There's only two, but I'll scan a few more as time permits. :) I hope all the moms here on Homeschoolblogger had a great Mothers Day!

I'm very happy with how this drawing turned out. :)

Uh... I like his... Nose? Haha... (And yes, I know, his teeth are messed up but I'll be sure to post the fixed-teeth version soon... :p )

Thats all for now! Hope everyones doing well. :) I'll try to post more this month!

A Study Of September McGee

Acrylic paints, board canvas, 11 x 14 In. Painting by Annette Nagle. (Obviously.)

This has been my first attempt at painting in about ten months. Yeesh! I'll take a picture of my first painting done when I was nine later...

Inspiration comes Standard

4:12 PM, Feb. 8, 2006 .. Posted in Art .. 1 comments .. Link

Look who got inspired in the wee hours of the morning. (It wasn't my fault! I blame William Ross!)

Excuse the poor quality, I have yet to learn how to use our high quality scanner. Do keep in mind I drew this very late in the night and I have since not touched it. I'll probably leave it alone, I like it like this.

This drawing was drawn on Strathmore acid free white sketch paper. Pencils used were Goldfaber sketch pencils, 2H and HB and dust free eraser. I used a reference photo for facial feature placement but about 90 % of the facial features drawn were from my mind.

What to say about this drawing? If I would try to explain it, some simply would not understand. This is a drawing from a character in a book my friend and I are writing. The girl is named Katelin de Luca, usually called Kate or Katie for short. All the other details will probably be revealed as I share the rest of the story with you all. ;)

Ehh, I guess I'll post some more drawings.

This drawing is alot cleaner than the last one. Yet again, it is a character from my book. The characters' name is Bridgette Stewart. She actually has blonde hair and blue eyes but I never take time out to color anything. The specifics of this drawing are pretty much the same as the last. Goldfaber pencils, same type of paper. I didn't draw this drawing when I was half asleep though. ;) I'm surprised I'm still happy with this, even when I drew it about three months ago. I also used a reference photo for this drawing but I put my own spin on the facial features.

Mm, well, that is all. :)

About Annette

Annette Margaret is an Italian, French, Jewish, Christian girl. She has been equated to Josephine from Little Women, Zipporah from the Bible, and apparently, she's told she looks like women from The Godfather, The Sopranos and women from Sicily and Italy in general. She's a jack of all trades, and hopes to master a few.

The Freethinker?

Did you start to wonder what Annette's blog title means? Well, she's often been called a freethinker, because she's a little different from everyone else.
