Birth Story

Since I was scheduled for a c-section June 4 and obviously had the baby June 2 something had to have happened to move the surgery up.  Well, labor happened!  Sunday night (June 1) I didn't get much sleep due to what I thought were Braxton Hicks (false labor).  When I woke up Monday morning and they were coming every 3-5 minutes for a couple hours I decided to call my OB who had me come to his office for monitoring.  I was slightly dilated and had other signs of true labor so we headed to the hospital for a c-section.  We waited from 11:30-3 for our turn in the OR - Mike and I talked, watched TV, and rested.  My anesthesiologist was GREAT!  He was very attentive to my concerns the whole time.  The last 2 c-sections I've had a lot of nausea and felt like I wasn't breathing.  I did have a bit of nausea but once Rebekka was born I was able to get better medicine that took it all away.  Also there wasn't a moment during the surgery when I felt I wasn't breathing.  The other thing that made me anxious was getting the spinal - with Annika it was very painful.  This time there was pain but it wasn't as bad nor lasted as long.  Now I'm recovering well and see improvements daily in my energy level and decrease in pain.
God protected Rebekka and I the whole time!  Mike and I are SO thankful for our four beautiful children.  GOD IS GOOD!

News

Not much is going on here in the Larson house.  I'm still pregnant and counting down the days til my c-section (2 weeks and 1 day from today).  There's only 3 more days of work, well actually only 2 and 1 day of class.  Mike's still working and being Daddy Extraordinaire.
Eric has 2 more weeks of speech therapy and I'm hoping his evaluation in September will say he doesn't need anymore.  He's only been going since January and I see (and hear) a dramatic difference.  We'll be starting school in July.  Why not wait til September?  Well, I want to be able to school year-round and take breaks if needed as I adjust to 4 kids.  We're using Winter Promise's Hideaways in History.  We're both VERY excited about it!
Alec's speech is also improving despite not being in therapy since October.  Most of his problems were development so I'm not sure therapy would have done much.  He adores his little sister and copies EVERYTHING Eric does.  He loves to snuggle most of the time and listen to us read.
Annika's growing like a weed and learning new words everyday (baby, book, dog, door, up, down).  She loves to do what her brothers do and wants to eat whatever they're eating.
We still don't have a name for the baby.  I guess we'll decide after she's born and we see her.  Someone will post vital statistics on here and we'll add pictures when we can.
Oh, I got my hair cut today.  I'll post a picture tomorrow.

Happy Mother's Day!

Original poetry by Jen (it's not good but it's from the heart)

H
er children and grandchildren are blessed
And her husband is too.
PD and Jen call her Mom. The
Pearl, Eric, Alec, Henry, Annika, and Baby No-Name call her
Ya-ya.

M
y mom sacrifices time, energy, love, and time to care for my kids.
Only a trip out of town keeps her away from them.
They rejoice when they hear we're going to Ya-ya's because at
Her house they can play with better toys or
Eat fun stuff or
Ride their bikes.
She doesn't spoil them, but still makes their time with her FUN!

D
aily I'm reminded of how blessed I am to have my mom -
Always loving, encouraging, praying, caring.  MOM-
YOU ARE LOVED!!

A day at the barn

We went to a barn in Salem to have pictures taken by a dear friend, Susan.  There were horses there, but it was a very rainy day.  None of us wanted to be out in it.

"Whatcha thinking about?"

"Mooo"

"I'm going to throw this at you, Mommy."

"Ok, I won't throw it, but when you're not looking..."

"Cheese!"

"He ain't heavy, he's my brother."

My beautiful baby girl!

"I love my sister!"

One of her first smiles

Cute toesies!
