A sad portion of my past.

Placed in Stories

Recently, I have been remembering some things of when I was a very small girl. I lived in a different house than I do now; where I lived all those years ago was actually a neighborhood, with a cul-de-sac and everything! (We lived there for six years.)

We were very popular with the neighborhood kids; they would come over and frost cookies with us, and once, we had them be a part of our answering machine message! Our best friend was Travis, who lived across the street from us, and we had so much fun with him; we probably played with him every day!

But there was one girl who I will always remember, and burn with guilt. I don’t even remember her name, or what she looked like really, but I will never forget our actions toward her.
She wanted so badly to be our friend, and no matter how mean we were to her, she never gave up. I think the reason we turned her down was because she was different, because she wasn’t as good-looking as we thought she should be. I am sickened and sorrowed by our cruelty. We would insult her, then laugh when she ran home crying. I won't go into further detail, in case I start crying, but you get the picture.

This has been weighing on my mind for some time, and comments are welcome. Now I guess you know the worst side of me, and my biggest regret.

Hi everybody!

Placed in Stories

Today, my 3 year old sister, Cady, came to me with the request that I help her with her math.

She's sooo cute! This part about the schoolwork actually doesn't have anything to do with the rest of the story, but this picture was just too cute to pass up.

So, onto the real story.

As I was working on my Biology, Cady and KC, my two youngest siblings, came in and begged me to play with them. (Well, Cady begged, KC just looked at me with wide innocent eyes.) I couldn't say no to such overwhelming cuteness, so I went outside with them and "jumped" on the trampoline for a little while. After Cady grew bored of the tramp, she went on to the massive cardboard-box-house. (massive for her and KC at least.)

After this, they moved on to the slide and swings for a while. I would get a good swing going, and then tickle them whenever they got close to me. It was delightful. *grin*

Ok, actually, all of that up there was build up to the actual event that will stick in my memory forever. Here it is....

As I stood under the apple tree, holding KC and taking pictures, [exibit A]

(This is KC's hand by the way. Not mine.)

I heard the desstressed cry of a young child. "No!!!"
I turned quickly to see Cady sunk to her knees by a pile of bark that had been stripped from the tree.
"It's not supposed to be like that..." she said weakly, "now the tree will die!"
Cady looked at me sadly, "Why did the deers do that?"
I looked at her and told her that the branch the bark was from was already dead, apparently she wasn't really listening though. Next thing I knew she was picking up the apples which had fallen to the ground, continuing to ask quietly, almost inaudibly, why the deer would do such a thing.

And as she carried the apples lovingly inside, I heard her mutter "I won't let them all be eatened up."

I Miss You, My Sister.

Dragontonge has left us. She went far, far away. For the whole summer! The only good thing about this is now I have my own room! But only for the summer. She left to help our cousin move back into the states from Japan, where she had lived for 10 years! So it will be a great chance for Dragon to practice all the Japanese she has been learning, 'cause our cousin has a small daughter who knows only a little English, if any at all! Dragon will be there until our cousin's husband can come, so we aren't sure exactly WHEN she'll be coming back. Though it'll most likely be in August somtime. I'm pretty excited for Dragon, even though I miss her like crazy!

Long Walks

Yesterday, my little 3 year old sister announced that she wanted me to take her on a walk, so I told mom that I was going to take CJ for a short walk and that I should be back soon.

Before continuing with my story, perhaps I should inform you that the stretch of road I live on is about a good mile one way, and we are right near the end of it.
So I took little CJ by the hand and we sent off down the road. She began talking up a storm right away. How she can speak clearly enough for me to understand her with that binky (pacifier) in her mouth I'll never know. She would look wayyy down to the stop sign at the far end of the street and say "We goin' all the way arn't we?" I looked down at her in surprise and asked her if she really wanted to, and she assured me that she really did, so we should!
I figured I could do that, 'cause she'd most likely get tired before we got there, right? WRONG.
We walked at a moderate pace down the road waving happily at every vehicle that came our way and before I knew it we were at the stop sign! I then started to turn around, but CJ insisted that she wasn't tired and that she wanted to keep going! So we went onto a road that was a bit busier and continued on with our walk, still waving emphatically. (The reason I agreed is 'cause there is another road that we could take to get back to our house, hence, I could trick her into thinking we were getting farther and farther way, when in reality we were getting closer. Heheh....)
Once we returned home, I explained to Mom what happened and she was good with it, though she had been getting a little worried.
It didn't take my youngest brother long to hear that I had taken CJ on a walk, but hadn't taken HIM, and he was kinda ticked. So I told him that after a little break to recover my energy I would take him on a walk, but he insisted that it be the SAME walk I took CJ on. So I did, and once we started off HE started talking my ear off.
"Anony, I know how they make roads! They get a bunch of this black gooey stuff and smear it all over where they want the road to be, then they have a bunch of people come and make it so it's smooth and paint the Yellow and white lines, and THEN they dump a bunch of little rocks everywhere and have cars drive over them so that they will be in the road."

He really is quite a cute 6 year old. Though he doesn't really like being called 'cute' he would rather we call him 'short'.
While on the walk, I again waved happily at every passing car. After a while MS asked my WHY I did that? Wasn't it embarrassing? I told him it wasn't. He said that he though it was. I asked him if I was embarrassing him, and he said I was. I love MS. (I still waved by the way)

I hope to get a new mattress and pillow soon....I need some sleep...

Placed in Stories

"Why do I need a new mattress and pillow" you ask? The simple answer is.....BED BUGS!!!!!
The longer answer is: You know the rhyme "Goodnight, sleep tight, don't let the bedbugs bite! And if they do, take a shoe and beat them 'till they're black and blue." Well I let them bite. A lot. I was a giant bug bite for weeks. Still am actually, but not as bad as I was before.

Oh, yes....bed bugs are very real...

...horrable blood suckers that they are...*shudders*

We tossed my mattress and pillow outside, but that may not be far enough (We hope to burn them soon though) 'cause when bedbugs are deprived of their 'blood meal' they will do one of two things: hibernate for up to a year, waiting; or travel up to 100 yards to find a new one!! UGH!!!
Bedbugs will feed for 15 to 20 minutes at a time, they don't care where they bite either!!

Oh, well, apart from bedbugs I have had other things happen. For one I and my older sister Dragontongue are in a Japanese class!! (I'm having real trouble with telling time in Japanese...) I know the teacher through M.O.P.S, I babysit her youngest son there! So I'm learning loads of Japanese!! I can even read and write some! Dragon is better than me though.

Also I have just gotten braces!!!! I'm very excited, except....I'm kinda in pain...and I can't chew ANYTHING!!! I also have to take really good care of my braces 'cause my top brackets are clear and my bottom brackets are gold. As the lady's at the dentists office say "I've got some bling going!!"

Oh. Hello

Placed in Stories

Well, I am in a writing class, and I think I shall do what Book did last year. Post some of my writing assignments! So, here I go.

My Aspen Leaves

A breeze sighs through the trees of my forest home as I fly from tree to tree, searching

for those perfect curtains that every female fairy desires. Suddenly I hear a sound like far

off applause and quickly locate the source. It is a small cluster of aspen trees with the

gentle wind lightly shaking the branches, making the leaves rustle, to create the sound I

was hearing. I alight softly on a twig so as to observe this creation a little closer.

The leaves of an aspen are shaped like a rounded spade, or a small two-dimensional

tree in and of itself. The outer edges are ruffled and slightly browned, while the inside

edges are a faded yellow color. The back of the leaf feels smooth, almost plastic; whereas

the front is slightly bumpy. The veins stand out white against green, and branch out

in many directions which cause the leaf to look like some kind of wafer. I take a small

bite of a second leaf, so that I might determine the taste, for my pet might try to eat it like

it did my other curtains. And, thankfully, I find it quite bitter. That bitterness stays for a

little afterwards, before fading to the strange flavor of ham mixed with slightly caustic*

lettuce.

I turn the leaf toward the sun and observe how the light glows softly through. I think

of the green tint that would dance about the room whenever I would close the shades.

Nodding decidedly I pull several of the leaves off the tree and fly home, imagining my

new decor and thanking my creator whole heartedly.

* I think that it's another word for 'bitter' but, I could be wrong.
