~A Blessing & a Cookie Recipe~
Our friends, Ken & Stacie talked to Pat the other day & he told them everything that's been going on around here. She told him she was coming here yesterday to help out but not to tell me so I wouldn't try to clean the house before she got here.
She came in the morning and brought dinner for last night & for tonight and cleaned my house!
She brought salisbury steak, mashed potatoes, banana bread, beef & barley soup, home-made biscuits, broccoli-cheese casserole & a chocolate cake. And there's plenty for leftovers for lunches.
I am totally blown away & feel so blessed, although it was hard to let her clean my house since I know she has things going on with her family, too-plus she has 4 children and homeschools. But, it was such a nice surprise. She brought her daughter, so she & Hannah worked, too. My house looks so much better. She is a mega cleaner & organizer. When she got done, she said, "there-now you're ready to have the baby & bring her home." LOL
It was also really nice to talk with her!!
Also, I want to share a recipe for a cookie recipe that makes a lot of cookies-perfect for keeping in the freezer. I thought I would make these to be able to pull them out of the freezer after I have the baby & don't feel like making cookies for everyone. But, we ended up giving some to friends and then gave a bunch to the equine hospital w/ a thank you note & hazelnut coffee to thank them.
Anyway, here they are:
DOUBLE CHOCOLATE SPRINKLE COOKIES
2 c butter
2 c sugar
2 c brown sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
4 c oats
4 c flour
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
3 c chocolate chips
2 c walnuts (chopped)
1.5 c sprinkles (jimmies)
Cream butter & sugars. Add eggs, vanilla. Blend oats in process until fine & add into bowl. Add all the dry stuff. Stir in the chocolate chips, walnuts & sprinkles. (you can add in less than the called for amounts, too or use different nuts). Roll into balls, place on cookie sheet & flatten w/ glass. Bake at 350 for about 12 mins.
This makes a LOT of cookies- about 4 gallon ziplock bags full after some are eaten off the cooling rack.-and they are so pretty. I used 4th of July jimmies & enjoy using different colors of them to suit the occasion.

It has been awhile since I've visited your blog.
I really enjoyed getting caught up on your happenings.
It always blesses me to read your daily journaling.
So much going on, yet you all remain firmly held in the palm of His hand. I am thankful for the way you and Pat are raising your children to be planted in Him.
I will be praying for Hannah's horse's recovery. How awful.
I remain in prayer for your new daughter's easy and safe arrival. I can't wait to see her!
Blessings,
Linda

I just spent some time catching up with the going's on at yourhouse and WOW!!! You've had quite a few adventures...I'd get a bit stressed and have contractions, too!!
I'm so glad that your friend came to clean and help out. I hope that you'll get to rest very soon - and snuggle a new little adorable gift and Jonah will be surrounded by pink. :-) It's a good thing that he has that fort.
Thinking of you and will be praying for you.

Those look delicious. I will have to try that recipe out. What a blessing your friends have been to you. I know it is hard for moms to let others step in and help us out but there are those times it is necessary and once it is done we are so glad we allowed them to be a blessing. I am sure there will come a time (if it has not happened already) that you will be the blessing to her:)
Have a great weekend in Christ Jesus:)
