My December

Hello everyone,
I know it has been a long time since I last blogged. I have been very busy! I hope that everyone had a great Christmas! Just before Christmas me and my sister went on a camp our church had, it was lots of fun.  I also made a gingerbread house in the lead up to Christmas, which is quite delicious!
It is now new years day! I had a very good new years eve which included seeing some spectacular fire works. My sister also found a birds nest almost right outside our front door! It has 4 baby birds in it! They are adorable.

Hi

Hi Everyone,
I was just wondering, at the moment in homeschooling I am looking at Creation vs. Evolution. Does anybody have a view on how the earth was created (or how it evolved) they would like to share? If so please leave a comment!

Psalm 23

Hi! I thought I might share a bit of the bible that I really like (I could never pick one favourite verse!). I've chosen Psalm 23. I think it 's a great psalm to think of when we feel alone or we are going through a tough time.  I like to remember that God does overflow my cup even when I don't feel like he is and give thanks to him when I know he does!

The Lord is my shepherd
I shall not want
He makes me lie down in green pastures
He leads me beside quiet waters
He restores my soul
He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I will fear no evil, for you are with me
Your rod and your staff they comfort me
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies
You anoint my head with oil my cup overflows
Surely goodness and love will  follow me all the days of my life and
I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever

Camping

Hi!

Camping was Awesome! We did heaps of bush walking! We (Me, my dad + my sister.) went with some of our friends. Food always  seems to taste better when I am camping which is a very good thing! In the absence of marshmellows we toasted lollies!!!!!!!!
 I am currently on holidays
 It is windy here.
Our church recently had a training day for people who are leaders at Sunday school or youth group I help with creche so I attended.  It was really good. Also I got to eat ice cream!

Have I said that I do Scottish Country dancing? I was just asked if I want to do a display this Saturday... It's fun but I would only get one practice and I would be dancing hard dances... Hmm... I'm not sure!

The next installment of "In the Clutches of Coincidence!"

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't blogged very much lately.  One of my friends now has a blog, her username is ConstanceCanterbrass.  Yesterday I went over to her house and helped her get it.  In English I'm doing a book study on a book called the "Star of Light".  It's pretty good if you want to read it. Also soon we will be going to Fiji!!!!!!!!! Hopefully I'll blog a bit about it when I'm there. Anyway here is the next installment of "In the Clutches of Coincidence!"

Alice quietly walked to the bored looking guard at the entrance of the gloomy, old  building. Ambrose would not tell her what the building was, but she guessed: a prison. Was she falling into a life of crime by helping to free one of his friends? A thief? Or worse, a murderer? She willed herself to walk towards the building ahead, but little did she know who was inside the prison. As the guard got closer and closer she thought many times about turning back, but if this was some horrendous crime she was committing, she was in already in too deep. Then Alice did the actions that she thought would seal her fate; of handing the guard the cup of drugged wine with a shallow curtsy.

He then drank it with out saying anything and Alice slipped into the shadows walking towards a great tree a far distance away. She could only assume that the guard would fall asleep in a few minutes as Ambrose said he would, with apparently no other consequences. As she walked towards the tree she realised that she had no idea why, and barely whom, she was trusting. After he had done- whatever it was he was doing- would he just leave her under the oak?  That was her last thought before she was flung into darkness.

Alice awoke in a small room. She slowly noticed a man eating what appeared to be breakfast. As she sat up he started to talk in an English accent, “Um hello, sorry about knocking you unconscious and all that, part of the job of course. Didn’t mean no harm to ya” he managed a sheepish grin. “Oh I’m Freddy by the way”. Alice sat dumbfounded, “What had happened?” she wondered. “Oh Freddy, you’ve offended the lady” Freddy said to himself. “Would you like some breakfast?” he asked, this time to Alice. Alice shook her head meekly and managed a soft “Why?”. “Well,” said Freddy his expression becoming more serious “I’m a friend of your cousin -Ambrose- he’s a strange man. Said he had some ‘Business’ (here he stressed the word business) to take care of. But him being honest for a thei- for a... man wanted you to not come to any harm so he says to me, ‘Freddy would you do me a favour? I have a cousin who’s staying, would you take care of her while I take care of some business an’ take her to the dock at the Persian gulf- I’ll pick her up there of course’ An’ I says “Well ‘Brose anything for a mate”. So here I am. But mind the knocking’ ya unconscious bit was my idea, I didn’t want ya being scared.”, here he gave Alice a wide grin and she noticed several rotten teeth. “Well” thought Alice “I guess that makes sense...”. She had many questions, but chose to only voice one, “When do we leave for the dock?”.
“Well my lady” Freddy grinned, “as soon as you’re able!”

The next installment of "In the Clutches of Coincidence!"

Ok,  Here is the next installment of "In the Clutches of Coincidence". Please tell me what you think!

Alice started by making herself a cup of hot chocolate (she had brought some with her from Russia). Then she started her exploration. The house was peculiar, but it still had the same model of a normal house. There was the bedroom she had been staying in, a bathroom and the dining room, in all of which she found almost nothing of interest. She investigated the kitchen as well and found a small note pad with a doodle of what she assumed was herself, a figure with a crown and a few houses. This didn’t make much sense to her so she continued her search. Alice was very disappointed to find the only other room in the house was locked. So feeling very let down she made her way to the porch and slumped against one of the rails closest to the house. Immediately she found herself falling. She landed in a large room full of gold, silver and many treasures that shone like a sparkling sea. She could barely contemplate where she was, then she realised: this was Ambrose’s “Aladdin’s cave”.

Alice could only imagine where he had found - or stolen -  this incredible treasure trove. But one thing seemed certain to her, this was his stash, where he put all his most precious possessions. Suddenly Alice heard foot steps outside and quickly climbed up a ladder and through the hole she had fallen through, then ran to the kitchen, just in time to see Ambrose walk through the door. “Hello...” he said, looking very surprised  to see her there. “Hello” she replied, then after a few minutes of awkward silence curiosity overcame her and she said “Honestly Ambrose where did you get all the treasure in the trove downstairs?”. Ambrose hung his mouth wide open, “How did you find my-  ah, the room?”. “I lent against a porch pole.” Alice said as if it didn’t matter in the least. Ambrose composed himself “that is none of your business, why should I tell you? You don’t need to know  anything except not to worry if  I leave the house.”. ”Perhaps”, said Alice , "but why shouldn’t you tell me? After all I am your cousin!”. “Well” , said Ambrose. “I am a very secretive person, to reveal what you ask me to I simply shall not do - but, I do need some help, what would you say if  I made you a deal: you don’t ask any more questions and I will take you with me?” . As Alice considered this proposition her sense of adventure was growing every moment, “O.k” she was surprised at her own answer but, “I didn’t come here to do nothing ” she thought, and yet she didn’t trust Ambrose.
During the discussion Ambrose explained that she would have to follow him very quietly carrying a small bag that he gave her. He also handed her some clothes to change into. He wouldn’t say much but apparently Alice was to follow his instructions in an exact manner. So they started their trek. They walked for what seemed to be hours before a bleak grey building came into sight. Then Ambrose explained what they would have to do - and that they would have to do it quickly as dawn was almost upon them.

In the Clutches of Coincidence

I've got a story I'm writing, and I think I'll post it bit by bit on this Blog. Here is the first bit, please tell me what you think!

   In the Clutches of Coincidence

After Alice Gardener was kidnapped with her friend Connie, her parents’ first thought was to send her away from Russia. However, they are very reluctant to let her stay with her nearest relative, the thief Ambrose, but because of the circumstances they did...

Alice stepped off the train in Persia, her sense of adventure growing every moment, even though her last adventure in Russia did not go at all according to plan. Adventures rarely do. So, as the wind swept her medium-length brown-blonde hair, she was determined only look to the future. Her green eyes looked searchingly through the early morning mist for her host and cousin, Ambrose. Though he was a thief she was, in truth, very excited to meet him for, after all, he was her cousin.

Just as Alice was beginning to wonder if this was a bad idea, a pair of sleek looking horses, and then a handsome but old looking carriage appeared out of the mist. “Are you Alice Gardener?” asked the masked figure driving the cart. Alice nodded holding her breath. “Then get in quick I am Ambrose Canterbrass, I shall do you no harm” said Ambrose. Alice nodded and stepped inside. They arrived at a normal looking house almost an hour later. They went inside and while Alice accustomed herself to her room, there almost no talk between the cousins. All Alice could gather from his appearance was that he was handsome with hair colour similar to hers. He was at least 5 years older than her and he liked to wear black.

The day sped by with Alice staying in her room most of the time except for meals and a short walk in the garden. When she asked Ambrose if he really was a thief, he said “of sorts”, and when he asked her if she was really kidnapped she countered “in a way”.

So they both went on wondering about each other, until night when Alice was asleep and she became aware of somebody leaving the house. She looked outside and realised it was Ambrose in a long black cape. “Well” she thought “two can play at that game. While he leaves me alone in his house I shall explore and wait until he comes back” .But what she found no one could have suspected...

Library

Today I went to the Library with one of my friends and we looked at some of the old news papers from 1862. They 're really interesting! It's amazing that  we can look at newspapers from more than a century ago! One of my friends has a newspaper called the Friday Fellows which a few of her friends, including me, submit things to and then receive a copy every month. It's made in the style of 1862 and we each have made up a character, which we can then write stories about. I went to my friend's house today to help her edit it. Bee

Easter!

 Hello,
I had a really good Easter.  At the moment my grandparents are staying with us, they live in Melbourne but are originally from Macedonia (formerly part of Yugoslavia, you can find it on a globe or map just above Greece) so we have been having lots of Macedonian dishes like soups and comat  (a savoury pastry with feta cheese and leeks). After church (on Easter Sunday)  a Macedonian who lives in Tasmania came over for lunch. Then we went for a walk near a shallow river with miniature waterfalls. I hope everyone else had a good Easter too!

Monopoly

I have recently been playing monopoly a lot,  and it usually seems to start out fun and then start to get  boring.  What do most people think about monopoly?? Recently I did a sewing class it started out ok, and for a while I had fun but I think the organisers had organised to much stuff to do in one class! There are three classes over the holidays, so I hope the next one is better if I do it! We are making a pillow and small quilt, I am using lots of different materials including a very cute butterfly print.

About Emily the rat

Emily is very cute,  I  know some people don't like rats, but apart from their short life span (on average 2 to 3 years) I think they make very good pets (if you do get a rat as a pet make sure you get them from a breeder, as rats from pet shops often have diseases). She loves to explore, sometimes I let her run around in our garden! Emily is an albino (which means she is white with red eyes, she is currently about 1.4 years old. Her cage is about a metre and a half up and across. She loves have a good scricth (a cross between a pat and a massage). Emily sleeps in tissue boxes (used) and hammocks. Some of her favourite foods are porridge, cereal, pine nuts, bird food and oat bran sticks (she doesn't like rat food!). I love Emmy!
