A Brief Moment Of Poetry

The writing assignments in our Core 3 program all deal with poetry this week.  On Tuesday, Hobbes had to write a rhyming quatrain about any subject he wanted.  He chose Webkinz (those little virtual/real life stuffed animals:

Webkinz are cute;
They're easy to do.
You can play with them,
And they always love you.

Hobbes started his year-long writing class today -- it's based on the Institute for Excellence in Writing program, and they meet for 90 minutes several times a month, with homework in between.  I was going over the list of things he needed to take to class (i.e. trying to find that thesaurus we bought back in July) when Hobbes asked a pertinent question:

"Why do I have to go to a 90-minute class on cursive writing?  I know how to do that already."

Sigh... I guess I didn't adequately explain that "creative writing class" thing.
