Swimming Lately

Sorry that I haven't made an entry lately, but I haven't had any time with swimming and school.  I moved into the next group in  swimming, and have had tons of fun in it.  Actually, this weekend I have a swim meet.  Last night I had the 500 Freestyle, and the 400 I.M..  In My 500 Free I added from my best time but it is only the first meet, so I'm not at my peak performance yet.  In my 400 I.M. I missed my "A" time by only 7 seconds.  Today I am swimming the 100 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle, 100 Breastroke, and the 200 Backsroke.  So wish me luck.  I will try to keep everyone posted on how I do when I get the chance.  Well I have to go now. Ttyl.

800 Meter Freestyle

I think I have a new favorite event, the 800 meter freestyle.  I finally got to swim it a couple weeks ago and loved it.  I went a 10:10 and was pretty psyched.  The AA is a 10:03 so I know I can get it.  Having never done it before, I didn't really know how to pace myself and I had A LOT left in me when the race was over.  I know now I can pace it muce faster and get the AA and AAA.  Too bad it isn't an event at our championships!  I will do the 400 meter Freestyle and the mile instead.  Those are pretty fun, too.  Maybe I can make Zones in my mile.  I only did that once, too, and know I can go way faster in that.  I had a lot left at the end of that race too.  Hmmm.....maybe I'll be a long distance freestyler?  I love breaststroke, too, though.  Hard to pick.

Another swim meet

I had another swim meet last weekend.  We got to go out of state, stay in a hotel and all that fun stuff again.   I love out of state meets but they are tiring.  My swims were OK, I guess.  I didn't make all my goals but had some good swims.  I am within 1 second of several more A times in my new age group.  This has been a tough age up to go from 1 second from AAA's to 1 second from A's.  Ouch.  I had AA's and A's in my old age group and now I only have three A's (some of them would have been AAA's in my old age group).  I am so close to A's in a bunch though so I should have them soon if I keep practicing hard.

In another week, I have another meet.  I am excited because I should break 5:00 in the 400 meter FR.  I should be able to go 4:50 and get my first AA at this age bracket.  I would be pretty excited.  I hope to drop my 200 and 400 IM times, too.   I want to drop time in my BK too.  My coach is working hard on my backstroke to help me with that.

Summer league starts here really soon.  I love summer league.  I get to go back to doing 50's and 100 IM again.  It is fun and not competitive.  I am in a new age group there too but should still do well since lots of the people don't swim year round.  It will be fun to see all my summer friends again.  I can't wait for it to start.  I will have 11 practices a week cause I still do my other USA team but that's ok cause I love swimming.

Well, I am off to sleep cause  I had a really bad headache all practice tonight.  Thank goodness it was a recovery night so practice was pretty easy.

Bye

Chicago 2016

So, I am watching very closely to see if Chicago gets the bid for the 2016 Olympics.  There are 141 days left.  I think I will may a counter for it tomorrow.

I really hope Chicago wins the bid.  Mom said we can go to the opening games and 1 day of swimming if it is in Chicago (or more, depending on how expensive it is).  It would be soooo cool.  Who knows, maybe I'll to see it cause I'm swimming in it.  That's 8 years away.  It could happen!

You can follow the countdown and the progress, too, if you want.  Here's a link:

Long Course Season

Well, I had my first long meet of our long course season this past weekend.  It was an out of town meet, which is always fun.  I don't always swim my best times at them because we sleep and eat different (my little brother always throws up cause we eat out at restaurants, gross).  I was pretty happy with this meet, though.

This was my first meet for my new age group and I already have 5 qualifying times for regional championships in July and my first "A" time for the new age group.  I went a 19 minute 50 second  (19:50) in my 1500 meter Freestyle swim.  I was happy with that.  My 400 meter IM @ 6:01 and  200 meter BR @ 3:14 were pretty good too.   I swam 200 IM, 200 Free, 200 Back, 200 Fly, 200 Breast, 100 Breast, 400 IM, 400 Free and 1500 Free.

We are starting to train for long course, now, so workouts are getting a bit tougher.  They are still pretty easy, though.  Tonight we did 4700 yards.  We'll be up to 6000+ yards very soon.  That's when it really gets fun.

Bye for now.

What's Been Happening Lately?

So, what's been happening lately you ask?  Well. I'll just tell you.

  • I got sunburned twice
  • I got glass in my foot
  • school
  • friends
  • family
  • food
  • and last but NOT least Swimming

That's right, swimming!  I know that I talk about it alot, but I LOVE to swim.  I swim 6 days a week (NO joke)  It's really all that I do.  It is sooooo fun and good for you.  In short course season, you learn to count by 25's, and long course season to count by 50's.  Besides that, it is one of the BEST things for physical fitness that you can do.  But, once you get really high in the groups, it's takes up alot of your time (I'm a living example).  I have stopped Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, and Scouts.  Here's an example of my schedule:

  • Wake up
  • do chores (make bed, pick up room, and unload dishwasher on even days of the month)
  • eat breakfast
  • start school
  • walk neighbors dog
  • eat lunch
  • finish school
  • eat snack
  • do evening chores (clean room, clean bathroom, clean playroom or schoolroom)
  • eat dinner
  • get ready for swimming
  • go to swimming
  • swim
  • leave swimming and go home
  • get home
  • eat a snack (usually 3 peices of my special cheese toast (bread, butter, cheese, and jam)
  • read
  • go to bed

So as you can see I am just a little busy (I'm exagerating).  I'm actually really busy.  Well, I have to go. Ttyl.

Finally Back

I am finally back, I have been sooooo busy between swimming, my birthday and other stuff.  So let's talk about my birthday first.   I got some really cool presents and had lots of fun.  Now let's talk about swimming.  I am in the same group as short course season, but it is still a good group.  I had my championship meet a few weeks ago and I did very well.  My freestyle relay got 1st overall, my medley relay got 2nd overall.  Our team got 3rd which is pretty good.

++

This year for long course season I am going to try to go to zones and sectionals.  But those are just my long term goals for this season.  First, I want to get alkl my champioonship qualifying times in my new age group.  I also want to get all my A times in my new age group.  I hope to do that at our first meet this season.

+++

I am now taking guitar lessons, and it is sooooo fun.  Right now I am learning how to play a song called "Friend Like That," by Hawk Nelson.  It is alot harder than I thought.  Well, I have to go eat breakfast.  See everyone later

Christmas and Swimming

This Christmas was awesome. We went to my grandma's house. This year I got a Fastskin swimsuit, a suit that is really tight so it will help me swim faster. I also got a new swim bag, new towels and some other stuff.   My favorite present was probably a Nintendo Wii.   I got  Wii Play, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, Big League Sports and some other games, too. It was an amazing Christmas.

Now, I'm prepairing for championships  in swimming.  In some of my events, if I swim well,  I should place in the Top 8 out of everyone. I pray I do.

Well, I have to go now, so I'll see you all later.

AA Time

Well, I didn't get that AAA time I wanted.  Oh well!  I did get another AA time though.  I'll be happy with that.

I think I'll get my AAA time in my 500 FR in a couple weeks, though.  I should have all my AA's in the rest of my FR events then, also.

I think I finally got my Butterfly back.  I was doing something weird for a while but my coach helped me stop that.  Now, I think I can get my A in my 50 FL.  I'll be excited if I do.

Gotta go to practice.  Bye!

New TV

We got out new TV in our new room today.  It's an awesome 46" LCD wall mount TV.

My mom and thebean bought Prince Caspian yesterday when it came out and we watched it today.  It was sweet watching it on the new TV.  The TV has a sound bar on it that gives is surround sound and that made the movie really good.

More Swimming

So, I didn't get all the AA's and A's I wanted but it was still a fun meet.  Now, I am only 1 second away from my next 3 A's and 1 second away from another AA.  I'll get them in two weeks,  I am sure.

I did two relays.  They were so much fun.  I actually swam my A time in 50 FR both times.  Now I just have to do it NOT in a relay, or swim first where it would count.

When I go to my gramma's, I get to swim with another team in her town.  You can do that with US Swimming.  It is gonna be so fun to see what other people do in their practices.

Ok, bye for now.  See ya later.

Flooding

We had banches of flooding here where I live cause of rain, snow melting and stuff.  My mom and my brothers and I drove around to see some of the flooding.  Here are some pictures of what we saw:

Can you see the baseball field in the top right hand side of the picture?  Now that's a lot of water!!!

Now check out this picture.  It is really cool.  It was really amazing how deep the water was.  We drive on this street all the time!!!  Now, it's under water.

Cool, huh?   Here's another one!

I'll post a few later.  We have more.  Bye for now.

Trying To Stay Healthy For Champs

Now by best friend has the flu in his house, too.  I am praying we can both swim at championships.  I am doing everything to try to stay healthy.  I'm praying a lot about it, too.  I really want to be able to swim at champs.  My mom has me taking garlic every day.  Here are somw shots of garlic taking in my house......JennaB taught us all how to do it.  Thanks JennaB

First, you get your garlic and nummy, cold, raw cows milk

Next you give it a dirty look (sorry picture didn't work)

Then, you open your mouth wide

Then you take the spoonful of garlic in quickly

Chug you nice cold milk

Now, make a sour face cause it wasn't that great

But, in the end, it gets two thumbs up cause it keeps you healthy

Now, don't forget to pray because ultimately, God is the one who keeps you healthy.  I pray I don't get sick before champs.

Thank You Lord

Home

Well, I got to swim in my meet this weekend because God is good and God is mighty.  My mom and 2 brothers had influenza and were really sick all week last week.  I stayed away from them as much as I could, even spent a couple days in my room with the door shut.  And, with lots of people praying,  God kept me healthy and I got swim.   I am excited because I qualitfied for our championships in:

500 FReestyle  and 100 BReaststroke

I also had my best times in 200IM, 50FL, and 50BR.  I have almost all my B times now, well I have B's in everything except BK.  I have one BB time, too.

I can't wait for championships cause I really think I can get a BB time in my 500 FRee.  It's only 2.28 seconds away.  It's now too hard to cut 2 seconds in a 500.  I hope I can do it.

Lincoln Logs

My best friend came over this week and we made a whole Lincoln Log western town.  I took some pictures of it.

This is a picture of the whole town.

Here is a picture of what I built.   The stable is on the left and the main house is on the right.

Here is a picture of the main house.

Lastly, here is picture of the stable. Do you see the horses in the stalls?

I LOVE LINCOLN LOGS (especially in the winter).

Hi Again

Well, guess what?   I had another meet.  Here were my times.  I am pretty happy but I still didn't qualify for champs yet.  I hope I make it at my next meet. I put the champ time to the right.  I am pretty close in at least 4 things

I really want to make championships.  I think I can do it in at least a couple things.  I swam a bunch of 500 Freestyles in practice the other night and my coach got my time on my last one.  It was a 6:52.  That's a B time and only 5 seconds away from 6:47 which is champs time.  I REALLY think I can make it.  I could easily go a little faster especially since my 6:52 was on my last 500 of the set.  I am excited.  My coach things I can make it too.

Oh, and guess what?  I am going to get to try swimming with the next level up starting in a week.  I get to go on Friday nights and swim with them.  Then, after championships, if I am doing well on Fridays, I get to move up completely.  I am excited.  I want to move up so bad.  A lot of the kids in that group have all their A and AA times.  I know its cause they work on faster intervals and I am ready!

Snow and No day 2 of Meet

I never got to finish my meet cause we got snow.  We got about 9 inches and my coach, who is from FLorida and doesn't like to drive in the snow, pulled out my team from finishing the rest of the meet.  I was really mad but the good part was that I got to stay home and play in the snow.  It was so much fun.  We burried my brothers skateboard ramp in the snow and made a sled ramp.  It was a blast.  Here are a couple pictures of me going off the ramp:
