Dec. 28, 2005 - What I Read Today In The Bible

Today I read this passage in the Bible: Matthew 5:1-10. Here is what I read:

"Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them saying:
"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
 Blessed are those who mourn,
      for they will be comforted.
 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
      for they will be filled.
 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
      for they will see God.
 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

I thought that it was neat that if you are a peacemaker, you will be called sons of God. When I read this, I thought that it was really cool. I thought it was also great that those who show mercy will be shown mercy. My other favorite part in this passage was that if you are sad, you will be comforted. Here is a little story of something that happened to me that made me sad, and then I was comforted.

I love to catch lizards. I had one special lizard we caught by a river, and he had no tail. I named him Louey. One day, I let Louey go in my backyard, since he was a wild lizard. I was sad to do this. Here are two pictures of me letting Louey and his friend go.

(Louey is the smaller lizard in the second picture.) The next day, while I was looking for more lizards, I saw Louey! I caught him. A while later, I released Louey again. But the next week, I caught Louey for the third time! God keeps bringing my special lizard, Louey, back.

A few days ago, I let Louey go for the last time. If you know anything about lizards, you know that they love the heat, and blue-belly lizards like Louey bury themselves for the winter. Maybe next summer God will let me find Louey again, with his tail almost grown back!

In this story, I was sad, but then I was comforted.

I do not have Louey now, but for Christmas I got a lepoard gecko that I will never have to let go! Here are some pictures of my brand-new gecko! Her name is Lizzy.

I love your blog. You are so cute!!!!! Even though I live with you everyday and have seen everything you shared with my very own eyes, I will absolutely never tire of hearing about your story and seeing your sweet pictures. I hope you do find Louie in the springtime. It is possible. But for now, enjoy Lizzie your gentle gecko. I am a very blessed mommy to have such a sweet girl (actually to have 3 sweet daughters) and I am honored to be your mother.
Love,
Your mommy forever(MOM)

Great blog, Audrey! I've had a couple of pet lizards, very small ones. I think one was black and one was red. They are amazing animals. I hope you see your pet lizard again next year!

Hey Audrey! I like your post! :) You know, whenever I think of a lizard, I think of this verse in Proverbs:

"Four things are small on the earth, But they are exceedingly wise: .... The lizard you may grasp with the hands,Yet it is in kings' palaces." You can read the whole thing in Proverbs 30, verses 24-28. In the passage, the lizard was the fourth thing mentioned that was small, but exceedingly wise! :) Cool, huh?

Keep up the good work Audy!

Your big sis,
Lindsey

Hi Audrey!! Great blog!! I enjoy hearing about your lizards :) My brother Ian and I always like catching lizards when we got down to Florida (there aren't any here in North West PA) and I have seen some without tails.

Just so you know, I can't see the pictures. Maybe it would be a good idea to ask who can see then and then what web browser they use. I use Mozilla Firefox, and sometimes I can't see pictures or hear music at people's blogs.
