Natty moments

• Feb. 24, 2006 - ODD SPOTS

These interesting little tidbits are called Odd Spots.  They are a little gimmick from a Feminine Hygeine company and I thought some on them were actually quite interesting.  I have not checked out whether they are accurate but thought I would share them with you and let you form your own opinion!

It is physically impossible for pigs to look up to the sky.

A polar bear's skin is black.  It's fur is not actually white, but clear.

More people are killed annually by donkeys than die in air crashes.

You burn more calories sleeping than watching television.

Leonardo da Vinci invented scissors.

Lemons contain more sugar than strawberries.

Boanthropy is a disease in which a person thinks thay are an ox.

Babies are born without kneecaps.  They do not appear until the child is about 2 - 6 years of age.

Because of the rotation of the earth, an object can be thrown further if it is thrown West.

The average human body contains enough fat to make seven bars of soap.

The strongest muscle in the body is the tongue.

People say 'Bless you' when you sneeze because when you sneeze, your heart stops for a millisecond.

In the course of an average lifetime you will, while sleeping eat 70 assorted insects and 10 spiders.

The pupil of an eye expands as much as 45% when a person looks at something pleasing.

An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain.

By law, every child in Belgium must take harmonica lessons in primary school.

While performing her duties as Queen, Cleopatra sometimes wore a fake beard.

Did you know that you share your birthday with at least 9 million other people in the world?

The shortest war in history was between Zanzibar and England.  Zanzibar surrendered after only 38 minutes.

There, wasnt that fascinating?  I will share more of them when I get them.

These are great, Nat!

Queen Hathshepsut (sp) and egyptian, also wore a fake beard because women weren't allowed to be Pharoahs. But she was "good" at it and they decided to overlook it. Pretty funny. Never heard it about Cleopatra, though. Of course, I know nothing about Cleopatra.

I like your valentine hearts!

Hi Natalie. My name is Corinna Silvers and I am from Tallahassee, Florida. I am new at blogging and looking for some blogging friends. I enjoyed reading your list because I met my husband 8 years ago by placing an ad in the paper. He was looking at the newspaper and happened to glance at the personals and came across my little itty bitty rectangle of information. He just had to meet me because I had a love for Jesus and white water rafting and he couldn't figure that one out since I was Florida so he called me. Now we will be married 8 wonderful years on March 28th. We are blessed with 2 great children. Faith is 6 and Matthew is 5. I love my family. We love to travel, hike and go to movies. I have been homeschooling them for 2 years and enjoy it 99 percent of the time. The other 1 percent I need a back massage!!!!!! I loved your picture of you and your baby. Would love to hear from you. God Bless. Corinna

I just wanted to say that I did enjoy reading those odd spots, quite interesting. Nevertheless I would like to correct one of the odd spots; By Belgian law, children in primary school need to learn to play the harmonica..???? Well I am Belgian and not that old yet, 26, so it hasn't changed much since I was in primary school, I just wanted to share that we definitely do NOT need to learn that at all. I never had any harmonica classes in my whole school career! Just so that people know...
