Aug. 15, 2006 - A Bad Day....so far

Posted in General

It is only 9:30 am and I am sitting here eating Peach pie with whipped cream!! My son has been crying for almost 3 hours now...I can’t figure out what is wrong with him! I just gave him some Chamomillia (homeopathic) and a little pie and cream too. He has stopped crying for the moment - though I am sure it will begin again soon. Maybe he is getting another tooth - isn’t that what we blame all unexplained fussiness on!?

I am feeling sorry for my daughter as we just had to cut out on our schooling this morning and she was doing great. But...that is what I like about home schooling - they get to learn about REAL life and how to handle it. I guess we have not completely cut out of schooling today - just taking a longer break than usual - we did get some done this morning and perhaps we can finish at nap time.

Well, I just thought I’d post this incase some of you wise ladies (or men) had some advice for me. What do you do on days like this?

Aug. 15, 2006 - Some Days are Harder than Other

Posted by
When my children were young we just took school one day at a time. Some days we would do extra and some days we would do a little less. We always got things done. So, don't be discouraged things will work out. I have been homeschooling since 1991 when my oldest was in Kindergaten. Actually we were doing preschool before that.

The biggest change for me this year is having older children and switching our style with my daughter.

I hope your baby is doing better.

On days like this (and I have had many) you do the best you can. Sit down and just read to the kids or have everyone help you dust the living room. Tomorrow is another day and academics can wait until then. My mother used to say, "Expect the worst and hope for the best" but I think that is way too cynical. I like to hope for the best and if that doesn't happen, take a nap! You are doing just great, and we all have something to offer each other in the way of encouragement, whether we have just started homeschooling or have been at it for years. Take care and God bless!
