Sep. 5, 2006 - Steve Irwin - Australian Reaction

Posted in Australia Info

I called my Dad last night to see what was happening over in Australia. He told me that there is an air of sadness about the place. People are shocked.

Many are saying that Steve Irwin was the "face of Australia", and that he did more for tourism by just being himself than anything the government has done with all the money they put into it.

Dad told me that there are counselors on the radio giving advice to parents since many children are devastated.

Wow , I never thought it would happen. My boys really loved his movie and shows. I do hope he followed the Lord. Thank you for your encouraging words on my blog.

I did not really think of the ripple effect of grief with the kids. I am sure that he will be in the hearts of everyone for years to come and his legend will live on.

We too are very sad, the night we heard, Billy cried and couldn't get to sleep. Steve was a very common "visitor" in our home. We all enjoyed his personality and learned a great deal from him. We will miss him!
Thanks for posting the Australian bits on him

We've been so sad since we heard Monday. Today I cried when I watched his dad talk about him. Even tonight I asked my husband (who rarely gets emotional) if he was sad about Steve's death and he said "yes." I think he was just so amazing and you could see his enthusiasm for what he did and his love of life. He will be so missed. This is the first "celebrity" that I've ever felt this way about, the entire world really lost a great man.

I'm so sad for this man & his family in particular; if everyone else is devastated imagine how they must be suffering right now... He was so close to all those around him, everyone seemed to love him, & he was obviously a very genuine person. What a terrible, terrible loss to the world. :-((

Thank you for posting the Australian info; I've been reading everything & it still seems unreal.
