Sep. 12, 2006 - The Gift of a Clean Kitchen

Posted in Home Management

My house has been a terrible mess lately!  I really mean it - just awful!  Well, I finally got the kitchen cleaned up and am so happy.  I have kept it clean for 3 days now! Yay!

We are trying to do the dishes and put them away right after the meal is over. If we don't, they are forgotten.  It is not nice to wake up to dirty dishes.  It is like starting the day already behind.

Of course there are more important things than dishes - but a clean kitchen really does a lot for my mood.  It seems to help set the tone for our home. My husband has been very happy too. He keeps saying, "It is so nice!". Obviously I think it is nice too - I took a picture!

I wish it was not so hard for me to keep my home clean and tidy. I really did not have much training in this area.  So now I am learning and training my own children at the same time.

It is exciting to think about how prepared my daughter will be when she becomes a wife and mother.  Since we are homeschooling, we have the time to teach, train and prepare our children for REAL life.  No matter what they do, there will be dishes that need washing and clothes that need cleaning...so they may as well learn how!

I just wanted to share my excitement with you. It is a funny thing to blog about, but I have been truly blessed by a clean kitchen! When I wake up in the morning it is a little gift for me.  It helps to start my day out happy!

Happy cleaning to you!!

Stacy

I know that clean kitchen high!:) It really does make a difference. I think flylady was onto something with that whole shiny sink thing. Congratulations!

Good for you. I also feel so much better with a clean kitchen and doing the dishes immediately is a must! Nothing gives me a bad mood in the morning than dirty dishes to deal with! :-)

Good job!
I'm the same way.. as cluttery as I am, I have learned to like a clean kitchen. I clean the kitchen after every meal, and I try to load the dishes as we dirty them throughout the day... It's so relaxing to walk into your kitchen and not see a mess! Plus, I've gotten super speedy at it, now!

Clean kitchen, corner photo !!! I know the blessing of walking into the kitchen and having it "clean". It has to happen before my other half gets in there, somehow he makes more of a mess in 5 minutes than I can imagine! Boy look at that clean counter! Good angle of the photo too, great counter space.

blessings,
jessica

I love waking up to a clean kitchen, too! I actually like it enough to get back out of bed if I forgot to clean out the sink on the way there. :) My husband thinks I'm nuts.

I have really been stuggling in this area. I feel like such a failure when my house is trashed and yet I can't seem to keep up with it. My house doesn't have to be perfect because I have higher priorities (my children) but it needs to be decent, laundry picked up, okay if someone stops by) that kind of thing but its not happening, I'm glad you have kept your kitchen nice, thats a step.

Train your children to clean and keep house. Teach them to do it IMMEDIATELY and not let things set out.
It is a hard habit to retrain yourself out of!
I had little training in this area also, and I have had such a hard time of it as the children have grown. Thankfully, God has helped me to teach our oldest 3... He is much more patient than I am!!
Many Blessings and thnk you for your encouragement!
