Oct. 21, 2006 - The Religion of Evolution
Posted in Creation vs Evolution
|
Recently I posted an email regarding the censoring of Veggie Tales on NBC. To read it click here
I received the following comment from Eric at http://gogoevolution.blogspot.com/
“So evangelism aimed at children was censored, was it? I don't mean to sound harsh, but GOOD! Any religion which has to target minds too young to defend themselves is a religion which doesn't deserve to survive. Either a religion presents itself to a critical, adult mind, or it shouldn't bother. That's simply fair, isn't it? If a religion is true, it has nothing to fear from such an ethic. If said religion finds this suggestion offensive, or is afraid of it, it has betrayed its own weakness -- and in defending such weakness, is evil.”
The exact same thing could be said about Eric’s humanistic religion of evolution. Yes, it is definitely a religion. Read these articles -

The Battle Heats Up
It seems obvious that he and I have very different opinions when it comes to “religion”. I am not a Christian because it makes me feel warm and fuzzy. I am not even a Christian just because I want to be. I have looked at the evidence and concluded that it is more reasonable to believe there is a God and the Bible is real than that the world came about by a cosmic accident and molecules evolved into man. I believe that the God of the Bible is the one true God and that He created us and wants us to obey His word.
Evolution is just as much a “religion"; it requires a tremendous amount of faith. No one was there when the Big Bang occurred; no one was there when non-life turned into life; etc. They weren't there and they can't reproduce it in the laboratory. I honestly see the evidence pointing toward an intelligent creator; design demands a designer. See my husband's sermon: Does God Exist?
If I believe God is real how could I wait to teach my children about Him? My children will not be brainwashed, but presented with the evidence.
Sincerely,
Stacy

Oct. 21, 2006 - Whose Religion is what? |
Posted by JacqueDixonSoulRestES |
Hi Stacy-
While I think that we can't expect to automatically just 'be able' to teach about God in a public place, such as a school, or even a tv station, etc. due to the fact that society is bound by all kinds of humanist laws, I do agree with you that evolution is religion. Atheism, being void of a belief in God, is religion too. Crazy, huh?
And, it takes a whole lot more faith to believe things cosmically came into a complex nature as humans and this earth from a bang of tiny particles than to believe in a Creator who intentionally created us in His image and gave us a place to dwell.
Along with that, evolutionists have been teaching their THEORY as *fact* for as long as I have been alive to little minds as young as preschool. Ok, even before that if you consider all of the tv programs about cuddly animals and the books about dinosaurs that parents read to children that always include the phrase "millions of years ago...."
Makes me sick. And, we are the whackos, teaching our children THERE IS A GOD, and HE is THE CREATOR.
The problem with people and religion is that they don't know the difference between religion and relationship. Even Christianity, lived out as a religion, is not what God desires, but what most people understand it to be. Praise God He reveals Himself and His relationship if we seek Him.
Thank you so much for the encouragement to Jocelyn. I appreciate the recognition of who she is becoming, but it is not mine to receive! It's that relationship thing again!!

| I just wrote about this same subject in my last blog. I completely agree. My kids know about creation and the THEORY of evolution. It's not taught as theory, it's taught as fact and it requires incredible amounts of faith. Faith based on a foolish desire to be our own God. |

Oct. 23, 2006 - Veggie tales |
Posted by bubbebobbie |
The very first time I saw NBC was showing Veggie Tales I wrote them and told them thank you. I wrote our local station manager as well and said thank you for making Saturday's worth waking up for again. He wrote me back and said he would check out the new line of shows as well. I still feel thanking them is the way to go because Veggies make me laugh and it isn't Pokemon or Power Rangers. The way I see it, NBC chose to put on quality programming, not just Veggie Tales, but 3,2,1 Penguins and Larry Boy, Babar and Jane and the Dragon. Not all Christian , but wholesome. Maybe we should be praying that the kids that aren't Christians love Veggie Tales so much their parents buy the DVD. The DVD does have Qwerty and the scriptures that go with the story they saw Saturday Morning. And kids do ask for what they see on tv. So the question really is, do we protest something that is wholesome only to get the trash we have had for the last 10 years? Or do we say thanks for willing to not only put on one of Big Ideas shows, BUT three of them? I vote for Thaking them. If you saw 3,2,1 Penguins on Saturday you noticed that Scriptures were quoted and not cut from the show. And they should be thanked for that, because you know they will hear from those that will protest their airing scriptures on television. Maybe our grandparents were right, "You can catch more flies wit Honey than Vinegar". I say let's sweeten their profits, support their efforts and they will see it was worth the risk.
