Nov. 15, 2006 - A nice day today!

Posted in Daily Living

Today has been lovely. One of those days when things go well.  One of those days when I am SO glad to be homeschooling.  It is such a blessing to be home with my children.

I actually got out of bed this morning when my alarm went off (I only pressed snooze a few times!)  Then I was able to have some quiet time and read Philippians.  No one was awake yet, so I was then able to really pray.  Not a rushed a prayer - but some real praying. Hooray!  After that...they were still snoozing so I got in the shower!! What a way to start the day.

I want to include exercise in my morning routine and I have done so in the past.  But I always feel myself rushing through my reading and praying when I have exercise on the list of things to do.   So...I am trying to find a better time to do that.   We ran around the backyard a bit this morning - does that count!?

The kids played nicely together (except for Little Mister trying to bite his sister - though I'm pretty sure she told him to do it!).  After reading and math we decided to enjoy the sunshine and go outside.  SugarBean layed out a blanket for us and we settled oursleves on it.  The two kids ate a brownie while I read the last few pages of If You Sailed on the Mayflower.  It was just a jolly old time!!

This is a truly precious season in my life.  One day they will be grown.  I'm so glad to have this time to enjoy my children. If I were sending them to public school I would be getting the leftovers of their day.  How blessed we are to enjoy a brownie in the sunshine with a good book!

Yay for homeschooling!!!  There is nothing like it.

Hope you have a great day too.
Stacy

Hey Stacy!! I was so glad to see your comment this afternoon! I have been thinking about you all day and meaning to check in with you. Your day sounded lovely and I so agree with the blessing of staying home with our children.

Be patient with your hubby and be in constant prayer for your desire!! The Lord anwsers prayer! not always the way we want him to but He anwsers :0) My hubby was the one who was ready before me, I had to keep telling him to wait a little bit longer and then pray over it. The thing is....God is in control no matter what either one of us wants or thinks is right and He always knows what is best!!

Have a great rest of the day!!

JOYfully in Him,
Kelli

I absolutely agree. We gave school a good trial for a few years with my oldest (now 11) and there's absolutely no comparison. Waking him up, sad and cross in the morning to drop him off, then picking up him at 3.20pm, tired and cross for the last few hours of the afternoon before tea was no way to live life, in my opinion. Changing it is the best thing we've ever done.
Still, I think we all need the occasional leisurely morning like your recent one, when the kids keep dozing long enough to let you have some personal time. It's as good as vitamins. Bring 'em on.
Thanks for your thoughts,
Paula

I didn't exactly have one of those wonderful days but as most days I was really glad to have my girls home with me instead of away for the majority of the day.
I don't really know anything about the math curriculums you mentioned in my comments section. Sorry, wish I could help. I think I just need a more basic math. Singapore just goes too fast.

I really think I needed to read your blog! We have had a rough time lately and I can benefit from being reminded of what a blessing it is to spend these years with my children.

The Lord will bless you for your efforts and sincere heart!

I try to savor our days too. Somedays it's easier than others. Our children are such blessings and the time with them is precious.

Your day sounds lovely! It does feel so great to get up on time! I've been trying to work exercise into my routine, too. I'm terrible at it! Hope you have a wonderful Lord's Day!
