Jan. 15, 2007 - Can you say COLD?!

Posted in Daily Living

Look at the ice I found on the INSIDE of our windows this morning!!

Growing up Australia, I never expected to see this day

Check out the ice on the window frame:

That's just not right!

One more for good measure:

Either tonight or tomorrow. I'm actually looking forward to it. New York without a real winter is just too weird. It's not that I love cold and snow, I just see it as a reality of the area I chose to live in. And as a gardener, this warm winter is wreaking havoc on my yard! (think toddler who hasn't napped all day and then stays up late--scary!)

Wow! I thought it was cold here, but Western Washington is notoriously mild. I love your menu plans, I have been doing something similar. It sure helps with the grocery list etc.. Be careful out in that ice.

Jan. 16, 2007 - Hi Stacy!

Art programs for first grade. We are using Artistic Pursuits and I like it very much. Art prints are included, it utilizes picture study and we're learning about shape, form, line and other art techniques. I think for the money it's wonderful. It doesn't really focus on the "masters" in the K-3 Book 1 book.

So my other two recommendations is to look at
HarmonyFineArts.com, Barb homeschoolblogger.com/harmonyartmom created it and it's wonderful for art appreciation and even music study. It is really for Charlotte Mason-minded homeschoolers.

Discovering the Great Artists, the book is $18.95 (or cheaper if you find it)
Online Art Activities http://www.brightring.com/artists.html
Written for grades 4-12, great coverage of masters, website has 16 activities, exposure to different types of art. You might want to preview the book through the library and make sure you feel comfortable using it. I don't know why it's recommended for grades 4-12 myself.

Another option is if you really want to teach drawing-
Drawing With Children

Personally, I wanted to start Artistic Pursuits and see how well my dd6 did with it before we started drawing lessons. You may have other goals.

Hope this helps! : )

I hope things have warmed up a bit by now! We have had a few warm sunny days but supposed to get more snow over the next few days. I can't believe that ice on the window! Yikes!!!
Thank you for the nice note. I am so glad you enjoyed your book from TEACH. I don't know if you knew I had a blog here too, I can't remember if I told you. Lorrie is having another contest on her blog! Be sure to tell your friends.
If you ever get up to Colorado Springs, let me know!!!
