Did you catch that title? “That’s what I like a dessert with attitude!”
Those are the words that came out of my daughter’s mouth a few days ago while we were baking. It caught me completely off guard and of course made me laugh and laugh. When I asked her where she heard that she said it was from Winnie the Pooh. She then said she wanted to surprise me with it - that she did!! She is very funny.
Well, this is a mostly a journal entry noting a few odds and ends. My SugarBean woke up at 5 am with a 103.5 temperature. It has gone down some but she is still feeling pretty bad. I am going to try making my first garlic poultice today and see if it helps her.
Apart from being sick we have been doing quite well with school. I think we have finally hit a stride of sorts. I am still struggling in a number of areas and feel like I have no idea what I am doing half the time. But learning is happening and she is doing really well with reading. I think we will finish Saxon Math K by the end of this term. After that I plan to go over some of the more difficult areas of math in order to get them down before moving on. Some of the Saxon Math K has been too easy. Things like identifying a triangle and colors were learned a long time ago. But...we are not rigid with the curriculum and have skipped over parts or gone over some things quickly. I do not want to bog her down with meaningless repetition when it is not necessary. That is the great part about being her teacher - I know her and I am in charge of what we do! :) Her favorite math days have been the ones when we play “store”. She also love the geoboard.
For scheduling we are using Lindafay’s checklist idea and it is working out really well for us. It’s very simple and helps me stay on track. Click here to read her post and download a blank checklist for yourself.
Just one last and totally unrelated note.....my little guy (2 yrs old) was coughing last night and instead of saying, “I coughed”, he said, “I coffeed”. He’s been saying that ever since my mum was here and drank coffee every morning. So cute! |
