The Human Eye. What a magnificent creation! So complex, so useful, so intriguing.
Today we studied the EYE. Wow! I really learned a lot (and so did my little 5 year old student.)

Observation exercises:
1. Notice how vision impacts balance.
Have child stand on one foot with eyes open. Then repeat with eyes closed. Is it easier to balance with your eyes open or closed? (It is fun to note what they think the outcome will be before they do this.)
2. Experience how each eye sees a little differently.
Hold a pencil in front of an object. Close one eye. Then close the other. It looks as if the pencil moved! Did it? No. Each eye sees from a slightly different angle. Thankfully God designed us perfectly so that when both eyes are open our brain puts these two views together and makes one clear picture.
3. Check out your peripheral vision.
Hold up a pencil in front of you and look straight ahead. Move the pencil all the way to the side and continue looking straight ahead. Notice how far you can move the pencil and still see it without turning your head.
Learning about the eye was really interesting and fun. Feel free to add ideas or links in the comments section.
