Jun. 6, 2007 - Catering Job! Who me?

Something crazy is happening at my house! I have a catering job. Not a real job.....just a one time thing.

Next Thursday I will be serving my homemade desserts to a crowd of 50 or so. I will be making at least 11 desserts!

This is very exciting and scary! On the menu we have: 3 or 4 Black Forest Cakes, 5 Berry Almond Bars, and 3 Strawberry rolls. I’ll keep you posted with pictures and recipes.

Did I mention that I am getting paid to do this? That makes it a little more terrifying! I want it to be perfect. This hostess wants to go "all out". I hope I can help her do that.

Oh, Stacy, sounds like you have it all covered. As far as any tips, if it's not sit down, people like bite size desserts. It's definately nice to have different types of dessert because if it's all extra sweet it gets a bit much. Homemade ice cream is nice if it's more casual.

But since you're the one preparing for someone else, I guess it's a little different - you probably wouldn't serve ice cream.

Like I said, it looks like you've got it all covered. I loved the pix you posted before of your Black Forest cake. It looked yummy! A mix of heavy and light types of dessert is a thought.

Hey, that's great! I'm sure you'll do a splendid job but I'll pray for you anyway! I heard you won the candy bars from kateyz (Coffee Mom)! Good on ya! If they get there soon, you can consider them your reward for working so hard on the catering. If they get there before the event, you can use them as backup if you run out of desserts. I'm just full of good advice! We are all looking forward to hearing how it all goes. You'll do great, don't worry!

I have thought about you a lot and wanted to make sure I posted tonite before I got the kids to bed! You were so kind when you said such a nice comment about my knitting and things! I love any type of crafty stuff and am thankful that my Mom taught me how to crochet and knit! She also loved to do other things like string beads and stuff that got me interested in all sorts of types of crafts!
Glad you liked my pizza! I just made it tonite too!! I make it a LOT!!! Quick, easy and inexpensive!! Plus, since we are doing "bootcamp"... I try to keep the meals really simple and almost get the kids used to boring meals to help them get trained to not be picky! When they say "pizza again???" I say "yes... and you should be thankful that you aren't dying of starvation!!!!!". OK... I have bible stories to read!! The kids are all waiting patiently upstairs for me... but I'm sure their patience will run out sooooon!!!

Best wishes on your catering job! Last weekend I catered a wedding reception for 120 for my friends daughter. All went well, but I am glad that it is done! Making desserts sounds like fun!
