Dec. 29, 2007 - After Christmas

Posted in Daily Living

My sister left yesterday and I cried all the way home from the airport!

It was so nice to have her here for a whole month. Now it’s to time to start saving for a trip to Australia. I need to see her new apartment!

It has been ten years since we had Christmas together. It was a lot of fun to shop together, wrap gifts together and cook together. We dreamed about all the things we would do if we lived close to each other. I know it’s cruel to do that - but it’s hard not to.

I am truly blessed to have a sister. I wish everyone could have one like her.

Today the kids and I got most of the Christmas decorations packed up. They miss their Aunty and Uncle too. I’m so grateful for the phone and the internet - it makes my family seem a little closer.

It definitely feels like time to get back to school work and a routine of some sort. We have had two months of company - which was great - but we are a little behind on our schooling. I have been staying up late and slacking in many areas.

It really is not too bad. We don’t get to spend time with our Australian family very often, so we needed to make the most of it.

I can’t wait to go to Australia and do some field trips with the kids. Last time we visited a wildlife park where you can feed the kangaroos and pat a koala. My son was only a few months old at the time - so he needs to go again

Until next time....

Stacy

It sounds like you have a wonderful time! My holiday saving tip to you is to save your coins. I save all of mine and every now and then I roll them and either buy something I've been wanting (like the snazzy espresso machine I got earlier this year) or add it to the vacation fund. I have saved up a lot of money this way. It helps that in Canada we have $1 and $2 coins as well.
All the best to you in the new year Stacy~

It must be so hard to live such a long way from family, so when you do get together you make it a long visit. I'm glad you had time with your sis and dad.

Hi Stacy...

I'm over here checking out your blog..and I'm thinking, maybe, just maybe I can do this!

As for family being far away...it is difficult. Mine is on the opposite coast, and while I have four older sisters, we are not very close at all. You are truly blessed!

Dad took us to Australia when I was 20. We had a blast!!! I would love to go back one day. We also went to a nature reserve and fed the roos and wallabys!

I still have cousins there..so maybe one day.
