Jun. 23, 2008 - Kitchen Tip - Oven Roasted Corn

Posted in Recipes

Photobucket

A few weeks ago I googled, "Best way to cook corn," and came across a wonderfully easy way to roast corn in the oven.

It is so simple and delicious I can't believe I haven't heard of it before.

All you have to do is place the corn (husks and all) on the oven rack.  Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 to 40 minutes (until tender).  Remove from oven, peel off the husks and silk (which come off very easily), and eat!

This way of cooking corn enables you to prepare a large amount very simply.  My favorite part is that I don't have to bother with removing the silk threads before cooking.  They come off so easily this way, it is no trouble at all.

Wow! It really doesn't get easier than this, does it? I've not tried it this way, but I've done a similar, slightly more complicated thing. You peel back the husks and strip the silk. Butter, and if you want lay or sprinkle on some herbs. Close the husks again and put on the grill. It's really tasty, but more complicated than your way, which I will definintely try!

Thanks for the great idea!

I have *never* heard of this!! I will be trying this, for certain! Are the kernels still moist and sweet? I'm trying to figure out why we bother with the other way a'tall, a'tall.

Have a lovely weekend!

I haven't tried that but will have to give it a go next time I buy corn in the husks. I have cooked it a similar way on the barbecue - only I wet the husks before placing them on the grill. Tasted great too!
