Simple living is becoming more and more appealing to me. As I cleaned out my closet a few weeks ago, my frustration grew as I realized how much time and money I have spent on stuff!
Moving stuff around, organizing stuff, looking for things amongst my stuff,...it’s such a waste of time. Time I could spend doing other things: Bible study, sewing, playing with the kids...this list is endless.
Of course we do need some stuff. But a lot less than most of us have and a lot less than most of us think we need.
I cleared out a few garbage bags full of clothing from my closet. It has been 3 weeks since then, and I have not missed any of it. My husband and I share a closet, it’s not large, so that helps me to have less...since I don’t want to spend money on more storage!
Since this is my first post about simple living, I am rambling a bit. There are many areas I want to work on to make my home a happy and peaceful place, and my life a lot less complicated. Some of the things I am thinking about are:
-
Get clothing ready for Wednesday night Bible study in the morning.
-
Get everything ready for Sunday morning the night before.
-
Do major grocery shopping once a month, then weekly for fresh produce, milk and cheese.
-
Continue to get rid of stuff!
-
Finish organizing the kitchen - I spent a few hours on this last night and will finish it today. I have tossed a few items and put a few of the rarely used ones in the garage. It is does not made simple living any easier when you have to dig for an appliance!
-
Simplify food prep - I recently watched Raw Food Made Easy
(which was awesome) and was encouraged to spend a little time on the weekend preparing dressings and cutting veggies for the week ahead. This is very helpful when you are striving to eat a lot of fresh veggies. I also plan to implement a baking day once week.
That is what is on my mind at the moment. I hope to write more about each item mentioned as I work on that area.

Have a lovely day,
