Motherboard Books offers a variety of computer science programs. We received the e-book,
Let's Make a Web Page to review, and had a lot of fun with it.
Let’s Make a Web Page is written for children aged 8-12. My daughter is 7 and loved it! She needed my help, but had a wonderful time creating her own web page. I have no doubt kids older than 10 or 11 could do this without much outside assistance.
This e-book is 60 pages in length and full of instruction. Phyllis Wheeler, a veteran homeschool mom, writes in a way that kids (and parents who know little about computers) can understand. Children use a free trial of web page software and drag and drop their way to their very own web page. And they don’t make a simple web page, they are able to include animations, sounds and video! My daughter was shaking with excitement! She could not believe what she was doing. It was fun.
I enjoyed the style in which the lessons were presented; very casual and cheerful. I am looking forward to learning more about the other programs offered by Motherboard Books. Especially
Computer Science Pure and Simple - that one sounds great.
