Oct. 5, 2007 - Cute and Sad

Posted in Adventures of SugarBean and Little Mister

This is mainly for Grandma’s benefit (since I know she will be checking in)......but perhaps some of you will find it amusing too.

Yesterday, Little Mister (who just turned 3) woke from his nap and I went into his room and talked with him for a minute or two.

His Daddy came home while we were still in there and walked down the hall to find us.

Upon seeing his Daddy, Little Mister said, “Thanks for the Bird Food”

My husband and I shared puzzled looks and little Mister said, “Thank you for the........”  He paused mid-sentence and seemed confused.

He then burst out a dramatic “Thank you” and threw himself into my arms and sobbed!

My husband and I both wondered what just happened?  Our son seemed genuinely embarrassed.  Perhaps he had a dream about his daddy giving him some bird food?  We don’t know for sure.  He wouldn’t answer any questions.  He cried big tears for about 10 minutes.

We told him it was OK.  Daddy didn’t mind being thanked for bird food.   He kept right on crying.

It was so cute and sad at the same time.  I felt so sorry for him!

This little guy is into thank you’s in a big way.  He will say “Thank you” until you respond with “You’re Welcome”, even if it takes 10 tries.  I don’t know why.....

He calmed down and played a game with Daddy and sister.  Later,  his Dad gave him a hair cut and he got to Thank him for that!

May. 30, 2007 - 2 year old art!

Posted in Adventures of SugarBean and Little Mister

I wanted to share this picture my 2 year old son drew of his great grandmother, we call her Sugar.  While she was visiting us she needed oxygen and wore it most of the time - this is refected in his drawing:

He said: "This is Sugar.  She is eating a noodle.  She has little hair.  Here is her rope"

I thought , "What rope?"  But then realized it was the oxygen tube.  He is more observant than I am

I LOVE this picture.  His Sugar took it home and framed it next to a photo of my son eating noodles.  He loves noodles and everything he draws is eating one!

Mar. 28, 2007 - My little boy is growing up!

Posted in Adventures of SugarBean and Little Mister

Oh dear!  I am a mess!

Two weeks ago my sweet little two year old moved to his big boy bed.  We then started potty training and he pretty much has it under control.  My husband took down the crib and the crib sheets are in the dryer waiting for me to pack them up.   On Monday I took some of his cute little clothes to the consignment store!  TOO MUCH!!!  I feel like the biggest mush ball around.  I can’t help but cry.  My little guy is growing up.  Of course I want him to...but I don’t!

He is absolutely adorable.  He is the kind of kid that makes you want to have 50 kids.  For various reasons it doesn’t look like we will have any more children.  I am so sad!  This is going by fast !  I would like nothing more than to add a few more munchkins to our family.  Anyway.......

Yesterday Little Mister drew a few pictures of people eating noodles!  Take a look:

He is only two and a half!  I think I have another budding artist on my hands.

He also drew a train track:

Not bad huh?

Jan. 9, 2007 - A Delicious Breakfast.

Posted in Adventures of SugarBean and Little Mister

My daughter is what you would call DRAMATIC! When she is happy, you know it. When she is not, well you know that too. I wanted to share a dramatic moment from this morning. It really made me laugh.

We have been trying a number of different recipes from Lorrie Flem’s book Sanity Saving Breakfast Ideas. This morning we tried Waffles. Let’s just say that my daughter has not had many waffles in her life. I have not made many waffles in my life and thought I may have decluttered my waffle iron! I found it hiding on the top shelf of the pantry and we were ready to go.

Both kids helped get the batter ready. That was fun and messy. It was then time to pour the batter into the waffle iron. I don’t have the instruction manual so I wasn’t sure how much to put in. I may have put in a little too much - but I’m not sure :)

We watched excitedly as our breakfast cooked. After a minute or so the waffle iron made a sizzling sound. It shook a little too. I said, "Oh, maybe I put too much in". To which my daughter said, "I’ve got to get out of here" and ran away! She was terrified. I couldn’t help but laugh - Oh I am mean.

Everything was fine and the waffles turned out great. I convinced her to return and she sat down at the table to taste our creation. This is where the next dramatic event played out.....

First of all, she would not stop talking. She was saying things like, "These are better than pancakes" and "This is the best breakfast I’ve had". Now those are not all that exciting, but this one is.....

"I want this to be a Praise the Lord day - for this lovely food he gave us - I'm grateful"

Can you believe that?! I guess she really liked them :)

I thought that was very cute.

Now I'm not going to mention that last night she told me the dinner looked awful
