Live a life that makes sense

Apr. 10, 2009 - Good Friday - end of year Library status

Good morning and Good Friday to all. Today is a holiday for our school. No work other than the care and tending of our plants and animals.

Wednesday I took my 2nd grader to the library. I try to make Wed. our library day. I gave him his library card. I spelled circus and castle on a paper scrap.

He spent 30 minutes on the online library catalog and ordered 3 different DVDs. Jo-Jo's circus, Scooby Doo and something else. 3 different and appropriate DVDs, using the adult system - the kids search one can't specify DVD only. He enters his own card number and password.

The library finds requests and holds them for 7 days in a small section with your name on it. He knows where to find that and use the scanning equipment to checkout and return items.

Just today I realized how amazing it is for a 2nd grader to do this, and it probably isn't taught to classes of 25 kids. He has a foundation to start his own research. Hopefully someday it can be learning directed and not just finding the best DVDs to watch. LOL

Mar. 28, 2009 - Start this year with another blog

Just got my note from HSB that we need to spring clean our blogs. That links on older blogs may have turned sour, etc. and we are responsible for the links.

I haven't blogged in quite a while, so it was time to start over - again! LOL I deleted all my old blogs.

I picked the Rooster template for my blog this time. It fits because I now own a rooster. I didn't see that coming.

I bought chicks at the local feed store last fall. Well surprise! One is a Rooster. I never noticed him - my son did. "Look Mom, there's a rooster." Well now I know he knows chicken, hen and rooster and the differences - lesson mastered.  I've been feeding those chickens for 4 months and never noticed. Good thing I had my son to point it out. LOL

A month later I don't have to use my eyes, that rooster is LOUD. Esp. at 4am.  I am trying to see if keeping him will be of help to protect the hens. Otherwise I may actually try to put one of these chickens into a stew pot.

And for all those search engines out there ..

AUTISM AUTISM AUTISM

If you want to read about NORMAL you have come to the wrong place. We don't do "normal".
