I love those wooden toys too...they're just so much more durable. My three year old got a set of blocks in different shapes and sizes for Christmas and all of our kids have enjoyed making various things including towers and horse pastures.

My little guy loves Thomas the Tank Engine too. He would have loved that cake. Happy Birthday, M! Congratulations on your break!

My little guy is turning six in a few weeks and still LOVES Thomas. My other son is 3 years older so, about the time I thought I was done making Thomas cakes, I had to start making them for this one. I have made a Thomas cake for at least 5 years in a row now! That being said, I would love to know where you found the wind-up Thomas. That would be so much easier to just stick it on top of the cake. Yours turned out great! Please let me know.
