For all of you C.S. Lewis Fans ~ FREE Unit Study
Posted in Educational websites
I loved The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis and now the Narnia Academy is offering a free 40 lesson online unity study for the Chronicles of Narnia's: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Prince Caspian called Beyond the Wardrobe. I had a look at the sample lesson and it looks really well done. There are insights into the chapter, questions, bible verses and activities plus there is a teacher's guide that goes along with each lesson as well.

I had a look at quick look at some of the grade 3 activities and it looks really fun. The unit is called Forests Alive and has a story passage to read, 5 activity sections and bonus activities. Oh yes, very important there is an answer key at the end of each section : )

FREE video, worksheets and resource kit.
Posted in Educational websites
I came across this website and I thought that I would share : ) It is called Share the World and is a free educational program including a video to watch, reproducible worksheets, a teachers guide and a poster to help children grades 3-5 to better understand the animals that we share the world with.
Through the course children will learn the animals are living, feeling creatures that need to be treated with respect, that they have basic needs just like we do, and they will learn that some of the amazing characteristics and special abilities that animals can have. There are some really neat animal rescue stories included to use as language arts stuff.
I just ordered this so I have not personally seen all of the worksheets yet, but on their website there are PDF files that you can look at showing what is included. I had a quick browse through it and it seemed to look okay, but make sure you check it out first in case there is something that you don't find suitable : )

Really cool sounds from space on this website!
Posted in Educational websites
Here is another neat website where you can listen to different sounds found in outer space. If you click on the Earth you can listen to what sort of sounds we are transmitting into space from all of our TV, radio, and cell phone signals. You can listen to what the first Russina satellite Sputnik sounded like and more. You can also hear sounds from Jupiter and Saturn. The rest of the planets have informational write ups for them and there are a few other sounds to listen to as well.
Definately worth checking out!

Whale sound website (Humpbacks)
Posted in Educational websites
I came across another interesting website where you can listen to whale sounds at http://www.whalesounds.com/home/index.html You can listen to them squeaking, trumpeting, conversing, clicking, roaring and more. If you click on the whale sound CD picture there you can listen to 4 five minute songs with humpback whale sounds. I have never heard a humpback whale so it was quite interesting. Actually when I listened to the first song Nemo came to mind when Dori was speaking whale and decided that maybe she needed to sound more humpback. LOL.
