American Heritage Girls Troop 131
AHG will be having a Parents' Meeting and Ice Cream Social on Thursday, August 23, 7 p.m. at New Providence Presbyterian Church (please note this is NOT our usual meeting location). This is for any NEW members, any OLD members, and anyone INTERESTED in joining American Heritage Girls!
Girls in grades K-12 are welcome to join. AHG meetings are on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month at 3:30-5 p.m. (Cub Scouts runs at the same time, so families can have one stop for both boys and girls!) Come hear what AHG is all about! We currently have about 75 girls in grades K-11 (all but a couple are in BHEA). We will have registration forms available for new members.
For those of you new to BHEA, AHG is a Christian alternative to scouting. AHG was founded in Cincinnati in 1995, and our troop (the first in Tennessee) has been in existence since 2003. For more information, please visit the website.
We'll start with the parents' meeting at 7 and we'll provide childcare on the playground. After the meeting we'll all have ice cream together. AHG families, please bring a favorite ice-cream TOPPING to share. The troop will provide the ice cream.

Cub Scout Pack 442
BHEA's Pack 442 is going to have a Parent Meeting/Ice Cream Social on August 28 at a location to be announced.
Each family should bring their favorite flavor of ice cream, one topping, and a drink. Utensils, bowls and cups will be provided. We would love to have some Homemade ice cream as well!
The purposes of this meeting include:
1. Meet other cub scouts and parents.
2. Register and pay the yearly $10 fee for cub scouts if this has not already been done.
3. Give you an idea of how Cub Scouts works, who your son's leaders will be, and what your role as a parent will be.
4. Plan Cub activities for the year and help you see how you can use your talents to help the Pack do those activities. For example, wood working, organizational skills, hiking or outdoor interests.
Both parents are encouraged to attend. If you are a family that has been in scouting for several years, please come and plan for one of you to help with childcare after the ice cream-eating part of the meeting is over. We would like for several parents and Boy Scouts to play games with the kids and/or supervise them on the playground, so that the other parents can attend the meeting.
We look forward to seeing you on the 28th!

Boy Scout Troop 442
BHEA also charters Boy Scout Troop 442, which meets the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month at the home of Bill and Lori Wade. Boy Scouts is for boys ages 11 or 6th grade and up. Boys do not have to be former Cub Scouts in order to join Boy Scouts (but they do need to be BHEA members)! Troop activities include monthly meetings and lots of outdoor activities. For more information on joining 442, please contact Scoutmaster Bill Wade at bsatroop442@gmail.com. Four Scouts from Troop 442 have earned their Eagle rank in this past year and a half!
